About the product, I got it because it's a limited edition including both versions of the game and two starter bonus cards. Since it's collectible, I opened the box just to see if everything was intact, without opening the two games. Despite this, I can still review the game as I have already played the Scarlet version taking a single pack aside to use.
I've finished the game, but of course I'll do a spoiler-free review. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set in the Paldea region, and we are a student of the Orange or Grape Academy (depending on the chosen version). There are 3 main stories to do either at the same time (recommended) or in the order you prefer: there's the classic challenge at the gyms to get the rank of Champion, a second story in which we'll get to grips with Team Star, and a the third story instead will lead us to face five Pokémon Titans scattered throughout the region. The plot surprised me positively, especially for some of the topics covered, and I liked it from a certain point on. The final portion of the adventure is beautiful, accessible only once all three stories have been completed. I add that it's the first time I've watched the end credits without boredom.
These games bring back some changes from previous series, such as the presence of Pokémon visible everywhere and an open world setting. In addition, the Teracristal phenomenon has been introduced, which allows a Pokémon to transform and change its type into the teratype they possess, and this upsets competitive fights, allowing a situation of initial disadvantage to be reversed. The regional forms of some Pokémon have been added (for example Wooper from Paldea and its beautiful evolution and Farigiraf, both in my team) and the paradox Pokémon, some really beautiful. For the first time, you can send your Pokémon to autonomously battle other nearby Pokémon while we can scout the surroundings, which is a godsend if you need to overlevel your team.
Let's move on to the sore points.
1) The stealth game mechanic introduced in Pokémon Arceus Legends that I really liked has disappeared (you can no longer throw the pokéball directly to catch a distracted pokémon, at most you can throw your own pokémon to surprise the opposing pokémon and struggle).
2) Nobody in Paldea talks about the problems faced in the three stories, as if outside the academy nobody knows about the existence of the mess created by Team Strar or the dominant Pokémon, and this leads you to literally forget to continue the three stories getting lost in explore the open map.
3) I state that in a game I never go to see the graphics, but I only think about having fun (and whoever chooses Nintendo knows this beforehand). But regarding the technical sector, this time I can't go any further. The game was filled with criticism even before its release as it showed itself as a beta, and actually the version put on sale remained that way. I have encountered various bugs such as disappearing textures, sudden drops in frame rate, pokémon that upon capture penetrate the pokéball and once I got stuck inside a cave texture and was able to free myself only because it took a while pokémon that called me to battle. All this affects the general experience. All this cannot be attributed to the characteristics of the console either, as a certain Monster Hunter has also been released on the switch. I can't understand why Nintendo (unlike other consoles) always releases near-perfect versions of their games and at the same time allowed a "beta" product like this to be released. It is no coincidence that Nintendo released a patch some time later with their apologies attached. Honestly, I would have preferred to wait a few more months rather than having a game rushed and releasing subsequent patches (a classic way of doing many games on other consoles, which I know so much about making fun of buyers). In my opinion, the technical sector is a step behind Pokémon Legends Arceus, which unlike many I found fabulous but in itself gave the feeling of being a transitional game.
Despite everything, I still enjoyed playing it and therefore I would still recommend it, provided you are a fan of the brand and are able to go beyond the graphics problems, or take it after the release of additional patches.
Regarding AmazonJapan delivery, flawless as always. I am very happy that it allows shipping to my country (Italy) and despite the distance I can almost respect the dayone. In addition, thanks to Amazon, I too can get those wonderful pre-order bonuses that don't exist in my country (we only have useless digital bonuses such as normal pokeballs, potions or revitalizing ones, things that I can very well buy already in the early stages of the game for little price).
