I'm sad that the images in the book are printed so small. I was hoping for a compilation of the original artbooks, with full pages and full page spreads. Even the new material was quite hard to see. Naoko Takeuchi's artwork is so lovely, it deserves to be printed fully. If you have the original art book, this feels like a good companion piece, but it does not stand alone.

As someone who once owned one of the original art books from the 90s, I was admittedly expecting something as grand, given the massive hype of this release. While the book is very comprehensive and contains most (if not all) of the well known drawings and sketches displayed at the museum and featured across numerous manga reprints, Raisonne is much more compact than its predecessors. Furthermore, instead of portraits getting their own individual page, they are often grouped with 2-3 other images of the same character or drawings from the same era. So, you're losing quality and resolution on two fronts: the physical size of the book and the layout of images on each page. I can't help but be a little disappointed because it's hard not to compare this book to what was published during Sailor Moon's prime.

However, if you want to have an exhaustive collection of sketches and portraits all in one place that does not take up a lot of room (the original artbooks were quite massive and awkward, I'll admit), it is an excellent resource.

全体的には満足していますが、多くのページに絵が詰め込まれており、一つ一つの絵が小さくなってしまっています。特に設定原画の文字が非常に小さく、虫眼鏡が必要なほどです。ページ数を増やして、一つ一つの絵をもっと大きく表示することを提案します。たとえ価格が上がっても構いません。

タイトルにもあるように、原画集の再販が最も理想的ですが、現状ではそれが難しいのかもしれません。この商品も良いのですが、原画集のようなものを求めている方には不満があるかもしれません。

Product with a beautiful finish and for those who can't afford to buy previous artbooks, it's a good purchase but don't go expecting large artworks, it's more of an encyclopedia of where each art is than something to truly admire.
