So when the loop on that bottle broke in a freak accident involving a rogue suitcase, I bought about three different kinds of bottles from Amazon in the span of 2 months. The closest I found to my former love was the Contigo Tranquil bottle, but it was so puny by comparison and had this weird half-opening, silicon sleeve thing that just made me sad.
Then, out of nowhere, my dad asked to use my Prime to order a water bottle he could take to work. He's a doctor with long shifts and a lack of proper water fountains at his full-time job, so he needed something with a large capacity. We searched for a couple minutes and decided on a Nalgene. Well, I loved the bottle more than he did and I took it any chance I got, particularly on the weekends when he went to the part-time hospital with free water and had no need to bring water from home. After a week or two of my debauchery, I ordered my own, and I LOVE it.
Sure, it makes you pee 2-3 times more than you normally would in a day. Sure, drinking two of these a day is the equivalent of a half-gallon of fluid. Sure, it's easy to spill some water on yourself when you get a little too excited. But if you're like me and love to be hydrated throughout the day and usually spill water on yourself everyday anyway no matter what bottle you use, I HIGHLY recommend this brand.
I've dropped this bad boy on concrete a few times, so yeah he'll get some scratches easy-peasy. But no cracks thus far, nor have there been any leaks. Also, the wide mouth is nice for when I want to put ice in my water.
The major thing about this bottle is the cap attachement. I like how the plastic cap is attached to another piece of plastic which wraps around the "neck" of the bottle to keep the cap from rolling away, but that loop is definitely NOT a place to hold it from. I used to hang on to the loop while doing my daily activities, but I noticed it was becoming loose. Since then I've stopped, and everything has stayed in shape. I know other people got to the point of that breaking off.
Other than that, I really like this bottle for the price. It's big enough to where I don't need to be refilling it constantly, but also at the right size to fit in my bag when I'm on the go. Its mere presence works wonders of reminding me to drink water since the blue color I got somehow makes water look... appetizing?
ANYWAY... My suggestion to you, potential buyer of this particular Nalgene bottle, is to prepare yourself to transport this BPA free container by the body and handwash it as much as your annoyance of germs goes. But most importantly, stay hydrated.
Amazon sells mini splash guards for 16oz wide mouth but the price is almost the same as this bottle SPLASHGUARD MINI BLUE. The opening is small enough that danger of waterfall may not be as certain as the 32oz Nalgene.
Last photo shows (L to R) 32oz wide mouth, 16oz narrow mouth, 16oz wide mouth, and 12oz wide mouth (mouth the same width as the 32oz thus splashguard compatible).
After getting these smaller versions, 16oz wide mouth is probably my favorite because it is cup holder compatible and grab friendly (I lost count how many times my 32oz slip out of my grasp when full). My next favorite would be the 16oz narrow mouth because the the cap is off and no liquid inside, the bottle would not fall sideways (the wide mouth cap is quite heavy that often cause the empty bottle to fall sideways).
