JavaScriptについて触れた本はいろいろありますが、いちばんの基本にあるのは言語仕様です。仕様書ということで、内部の細かな挙動までが厳密に書かれていて、「こうなっているのか」と納得することが多かったです。
ただ、ECMAScriptの仕様なので、DOMやブラウザ依存の機能については（当然ですが）ほぼ触れられていません。
