中学の夏休み、読書感想文を書くため読んだのがこの「河童」でした。
思春期まっただ中、自分の人生に”何故”と悩むことが多かった私に、腹をくくらせた本です。
私も、
河童ではないが、「お前はこの世界へ生まれてくるかどうか、よく考えた上で返事をしろ。」
と尋ねられたと中学生ながら確信しました。
そう、人間だって「子どもは親を選んで生まれてくる」
「この人生を覚悟して生まれて来た」と、自分で自分に叱咤激励した事を懐かしく思い出しました。
人生の折り返し点で、池川明さんの「なぜ、あなたは生まれてきたのか」を読み、
また、「河童」を思い出し読み、心新にできました。
