If you own the original tabmate controller the first thing you'll notice about the new tabmate is the missing joystick. I love the joystick and it's been replaced with a shortcut button for the Hand tool (temporary switch) which is easy enough to get used to. There's a wheel on the new tabmate assigned to zoom but I am accustomed to having zoom in/out on the forward buttons of the older tabmate. It's easy to customize the new tabmate to operate more along the lines of the older tabmate though so I've assigned zoom to the front buttons and brush size to the wheel. All the extra buttons are nice on this new tabmate and the bluetooth connectivity seems to work well enough.
Both Tabmates (original and bluetooth) work at the same time and have their own menus under the preferences tab in Clip Studio Paint.
I placed my order from Canada and received the package from Amazon Japan three days later, so shipping is pretty fast. Import duties are included in the cost and came to about $5 Canadian.
I bought the Tabmate about 1½ years ago, and it has served me very well. It's an excellent device in terms of buttons, software support inside Clip Studio Paint, the functions it offer, and comfort. It's been very easy to get used to casually have my other hand resting in my lap, with all the convenience of what a keyboard can offer while doing so.
However I wish the build quality was better. It took a little under a year for the wheel to stop sending out input, making it unreliable and annoying to use. And now, 1½ years into owning one of these, the button at the front doesn't click any more, and the wheel itself sunk into the device, becoming unusable.
Sincerely hope they have done a quiet revision of the hardware, or at least may consider updating the hardware in the future to be more sturdy. I voiced my concern with support, who probably panders the customer by saying they'll relay the information to their team, but if you feel the same about the Tabmate I do I suggest you do the same. My favorite apparel to date could use a bit of the 'premium' treatment.
