～ Prologue ～
When the stars shine on a quiet night
Listening to the moon sing,
please open the book slowly
I hope that the voice wraps
around your clear heart softly
Painting pictures and weaving words
They are two different things, but they both help me express my feelings with colors and sounds. I feel that they are like sophisticated forms of letter in a sense that I can tell my stories through them.
I put together the book in the hope that my paintings and poems inspire everyone who happens to come across it.
I will be very happy if you keep the book by your side and flip through it when you reflect on your life in quiet or when you are alone and feeling positive.
I have been engaging in creative activities that center around the creation of picture books, focusing on story-telling paintings and inspiring words.
I use water colors, color pencils, pastels and acrylic paints to paint pictures. Also, in recent years, I have been using wool felt and resin in order to expand the range of expression.
In 2015, I started Kotokoto* Cottontail in order to explore the profoundness, sweetness and depth of picture books as well as to introduce the way of storytelling that reaches straight into readers’ soul.
I intend to create a new world of picture books without conforming to conventional patterns.
