Sakamoto is by now an art venue institution having released many innovative cd s in the 80 s n 90 s that married j-pop ( Japan pop), westernised pop funk ,languid piano intrumentals and an often vocal collaboration track of varying success (in recent years he has focused on minimal electronica with piano collabs) It's all here in this 1991 release. Some of it works well ( "triste"with its jazz piano riff and slinky pop funk) some of it not ( the rather pedestrian solo piano tracks and a dull slow track with long time collaborator David Sylvian)
A definite mixed bag sadly. So far the 1988 release "Beauty" beats this hands down with far stronger more uniquely Japanese tracks using traditional instruments and vocalists amongst the more usual slinky sophisticated pop. 3.5 stars out of 5.

The follow-up record to his album Beauty, and it does not disappoint. I loved Heartbeat the moment I put it on and am still loving it. It's become part of my summer listening playlist, even though though it was released in the early 1990s. Still sounds fresh twenty years later.
Super Qualität bin begeistert 1000 dank jederzeit gerne wieder kann diese Scheibe nur weiterempfehlen und für das wenige Geld musste ich einfach zugreifen
I was a little disappointed. Not that the album isn't any good. I just expected something else, I'm sure. I listened to the whole CD once and haven't played it since. Sorry, just not what I wanted.
