1．低価格の割に優秀な描画エンジン
　HDMI接続すると、デフォルトの解像度（resolution）は1920×1080、リフレッシュレートは60Hzです。（図）　この内蔵エンジンは速い動画やゲームには向かず、どちらかというと文書作成やWeb閲覧向きです。人の眼はリフレッシュレートが低くなるほどフリッカーを感知しやすくなる一方、リフレッシュレートを上げると、LEDバックライトの明滅に起因するホワイト部分の眩しさが目立つネガがあるそうです。本品の比較的低いリフレッシュレートは、フリッカーフリーや電力削減とのバランスを取った結果のようです。なお、PC側のGPU性能が十分な時は、GPUのコントロールパネルで描画制御をGPUに行わせることができます。（図）　その場合、リフレッシュレートを75Hzに上げることができるため、動画再生やWeb画面の切り替え速度がアップする反面、ホワイト部分の眩しさが増し、ピントの甘い感じはやや強まります。
2．輝度低減は文書用途に必須
　本品右下のOSDは、慣れれば直感的で分かりやすいと思います。ワープロソフトなどは、デフォルト状態では白地に黒文字なので、工場出荷状態の輝度では白地が眩しすぎるようです。冒頭のように輝度を40%に下げると、白地は少し灰色を帯びて明度が下がり、凝視しやすくなります。一方、リフレッシュレート60Hzでもフリッカーが気になる場合は、上記1．のGPU描画に切り替え（リフレッシュレートを上げ）、さらに輝度を下げるなどの対処が必要ですが、そうすると動画再生時に画面が暗いなどの弊害が出ます。トレードオフの関係です。本品（VZ239HR）はHDMI（とVGA）のインターフェースしかありませんが、一般にDP（ディスプレイポート）のほうがHDMIよりケーブルの搬送周波数を抑えられるそうです。なお、動画やゲーム主体の使い方では、リフレッシュレートを上げて画面の白色が眩しくなっても、画面の動きと切り替わり自体が速いため、文書作成の場合ほど目立たないようです。
3．「TÜV Rheinland 認証」に準拠
　2024年7月下旬の追記ですが、またフリッカーが気になりだしました。こうした場合の解決策の一つはE社などの高価なモニターにすることですが、製品サイクルが速い業界にあって、「5年保証」などのセールストークは昔ほどの訴求力を持たなくなっているのも事実です。このため本品のようなボトムエンド製品を保証期間（3年）もたせて代替するのも対案のようで、現在高価なHDR（High Dynamic Range）モニターが普及価格帯に降りてくるのを待つのも手かと思います。
