The Beamer Brothers were one of the Hawaii artists that helped to bring an appreciation of Hawaiian music to the younger generation. Their harmonization of their voices made us enjoy and appreciate this type of music at a time in our lives when we only liked pop and rock and roll top 40 songs. They made it cool for us young folks (back then) to listen and enjoy Hawaiian music. Althought sung in english, two memorable songs from this album includes Mr. Sun Cho Lee is a song that poked fun of the various ethnic groups in Hawaii and we all laughed together. Sweet Okole, who doesn't like a sweet okole!

Me and my X (Bill) had this album in the early 1980's. We loved it, but when our marriage ended, it was the only thing I was sad about leaving behind. Now, happy to say I have it again, at last!
Keola Beamer is one of my favorite Hawai'ian performers. The material for this CD is completely different. The CD immediately became one of my favorites. There are "fun" / kookie tracks and serious tracks like Hana Chant. If you research the music era of "folk groups" you can hear the sounds of "The Brother's Four" or the Kingston Trio". In one of the selections I hear some of the cord progressions as in "Do You Know the Way" (to San Jose). You can meditate and laugh as you listen to the different tracks. This is one of the first CD's I get out everytime I want Hawai'ian music.

I featured this album on my Island Music radio program on KFSK Petersburg, AK, with comparisons of the tracks with other artists and later work by the Beamers. http://kfsk-org.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/streetbeat-wed3.mp3 Mr Sun Co Lee and Sweet Okole made me smile a lot.
