For the price of 10 minutes of therapy this book contains all you need to know about narcissistic mothers and the impact on you as the daughter of a narcissistic mother.
The original edition of You're Not Crazy - It's Your Mother changed lives, as thousands of daughters of narcissistic mothers have testified. This second edition, expanded by about 50% and containing even more 'comforting truth bombs' as one reader put it, will do the same. And it's your life that could be transformed by reading this book.
If you struggle in your relationship with your mother, and every encounter with her leaves you confused and upset*, then this book could well be the answer. I invite you to look Look Inside to see if any of it resonates.
If you think your mother could have Narcissistic Personality Disorder, then this is definitely the book for you. It goes through all the ways NPD manifests in your mother, and its life-long impact on you. Then, the book details how to escape from the toxicity and begin to heal.
Your future Self and your future life wait for you the other side of the information in this book.
*Do you find yourself emotionally bruised, upset and confused after being in contact with your mother? Do you end up doubting yourself - even feeling crazy - as she remembers incidents totally differently to how you remember them and denies other events even happened at all, until you begin to doubt your own perceptions?
Do you somehow feel you're not a real person in her company? Does it seem that she gets angry or upset when good things happen to you, and gets happy and energised when bad things happen to you? But maybe that's your imagination, you tell yourself, because of course your own mother isn't going to be sad when you succeed and glad when you suffer, right? And so maybe you feel like a bad daughter for even doubting her.
Around and around go your feelings and emotions and half-formed thoughts, till you think you must truly be crazy.
If all this is true for you, you are far from alone. Millions of women all over the world have experienced the same crazy-making hall-of-mirrors. And this is why: their mother - like yours, possibly - has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Realising about NPD explains the whole crazy-making dynamic, and this realisation is so freeing and life-changing. It can be a tough realisation too, however, and this book aims to support you on the tough bits of that journey.
Sons of narcissistic mothers - you'll still get huge value out of this book. I wrote it from the vantage point of being a daughter but many sons have written to me to tell them it told their story too.

A Eureka, Light Bulb, Epiphany moment for me.

I saw this title by chance. Think it must have been put there by my Guardian Angel who is trying to keep me from cracking up because of my mother's treatment towards me. Reading this book was like reading a description of my own mother. The subject of the book is NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER. If your life has been made a misery because of your mother's attitude towards, and treatment of, you despite your best efforts to be a good daughter (the typical scenario is the mother-daughter relationship) then either buy and read this book NOW or emigrate as far away as you can from her before it is too late for your health, nerves and sanity. YES - really.

This book has saved me. My counsellor spoke about my childhood and the “funny” family stories my mum would tell us were actually child abuse. Putting me outside to walk the streets aged three and eating neighbours onions because I was hungry was told to me as ‘something Mother’s did in 1980s.’ The fact she raised me to UNLEARN natural instincts and how growing up she would tell me to do something then tell me off for it and my dad would believe her means by the time I left home, I had a breakdown. It’s abuse and very cruel. This book reveals this and every child of a parent with narcissistic personality disorder could have written this as their actions are all the same. Textbook. The abuse continued as she would demand her grandchildren stay with her and make them carry out chores and belittle them and refuse to listen to their voices and I’ve saved them further from this abuse - which is exactly what it is! Her friends who would constantly ignore or be rude to us due to stories she told others. Thank goodness for this book!! It’s not condescending and speaks from another daughter who has been through it. It’s not hard to read either - I couldn’t stop reading this! I hope the author knows how many she’s helped. I bought my daughter a copy so she can understand too that her Nan wasn’t behaving an acceptable way.
Also read “Complex PTSD : From Surviving to Thriving.” This explains how to cope with flashbacks of trauma and recognising how to change your thought patterns of how to ‘unlearn’ the negative teachings parents taught us.

A Door Opens!

This book has been a real eye-opener for me. Thinking all my life that I was inadequate - despite loads of academic qualifications, aptitude for languages, living away from home and a moderately successful career - I now understand, what I had always felt, that my mother really was the cause of my insecurity. As soon as I put this down I was bouncing with new-found confidence and, dare I say it, a sense of triumph. I don't go with the mental exercises at the back - but it's a gripping read and does empower you.

I am in my 50s and have lived with emotional abuse from, primarily, my mother. This book helped me to understand my fathers role too. Most importantly it validated things which I knew had happened but my mother had denied. Wonderful book.

OMG I thought it was only me!!! this rings true throughout. Having been so stressed my hair was falling out (after my mother stayed at Christmas!), I went to my hairdresser for a cut and advice. The lovely receptionist was chatting with me and said just read this book! I recommend this book completely. Thank you so much x
