A. A. Milne was born in 1882 in London. He was a playwright and journalist as well as a poet and storyteller. His classic children's books were inspired by his son, Christopher Robin. Milne died in 1956.

Ernest H. Shepard was born in 1879 in England. His pictures of the Pooh characters are based on real toys owned by Christopher Robin Milne. Shepard died in 1976.

ディズニーの「クマのプーさん」のイメージで、のんびりしたゆっくりの朗読かと思ったら、すごい速さ！ミルンの原作を忠実に朗読しているのだが、こちらがディズニー・ヴァージョンに毒されているせいで、随分印象がちがう。原作のプーさんは、ロビン少年を相手に、結構口達者だ（もっとも、間抜けなことに変わりはないが・・・）。CDは2枚組で6 tracksづつ収録されている。ステレオになっていて、プーさんが風船で上昇する時は、右耳にプーさんの声（上のほう）、左耳にロビン少年の声（下の方）が聞こえて、上下の音の差が立体的に聞こえる。効果音も、バックミュージックも素敵である。声優も複数で臨場感がある。欠点は録音の音が小さくプレーヤーの音量を最大限にしないと普通の音量にならないこと。それはともかく、会話が速くて、プーさんののんびりした朗読が楽しみたいとの身勝手な期待が外れたので、星4つ。でも、本物の「クマのプーさん」を味わうにはいい朗読ですよ。

マスコットとしては長年親しんでいるプーさんですが、ちゃんと読んだことがなかったため、今回Kindleで購入しました。

英語も平易で、挿絵とともにふんわりとした雰囲気があり、ところどころいわゆる受験英語では見かけない単語があっても、辞書のリンクでそのままスムーズに読めました。
私自身は、子供の頃の物事の感じ方を思い出し、ささくれ立った気持ちが和らぐのを感じました。文法がちがちで英語学習をした年代の方が、英語の優しさや楽しさを味わうのにも、とてもよい本だと思います。

半世紀以上前に英語で読んだWinnie-the-Poohです。今回は孫のために買いました。Disneylandのハニーハントはいつも長蛇の列で待ち時間60分以上ですが、プーさんの本当の話を知る人は子供はもちろん、大人も知らない人が多いでしょう。全てディズニーが始めた物と思い込まないためにも本物を読ませたいです。

クマのプーさんの朗読CDです！
プーさんシリーズは朗読も沢山でていますが、聞き比べるとプーさんの感じがずいぶん違います！
この朗読ではプーさんの声が低いのでプーさんが大きいのかな？とか、聞き比べると楽しいです！
　どの朗読でも同じお話なのに、朗読が違うとそれぞれのキャラクターまでちがうように感じておもしろいです！

アラン・ベネットの声はプーさんぽくて良いのですがセリフが原書通りに進んでいるかと思えば途中でとんだりします。そこがちょっと気になりました。こういう物だと思えば良いものだと思います。話の変わり目に効果音が鳴りますがあとはナレーションだけです。収録されているお話は Pooh goes visiting and gets into a tight place. Eeyore loses a tail.Piglet meets a Heffalump.Eeyore has a birthday and gets two presents.An expotition is mounted to the North Pole.

英語の学習や多読の手始めに購入しました。とってもピースフルでお気に入りの１冊になりました。
プーの独り言はちょっと分かりにくいですが、全体にとても易しい英語で、少しくらい分からなくても素朴でかわいい挿絵を見ながら、ほんわかした雰囲気にほっとできます。
短編集ですので、ちょっとした合間にも気楽に読むことができました。
プーや仲間たちのこと、イラストでよく目にする風船にはこんなエピソードがあったのね！と得心できました。

I’m a teacher and bought this book for my class in September to help with easing the children back into school and helping them if they’ve got worries. It was recommended to me.
I’m very unimpressed with the book and won’t be sharing it at all. It gives examples of worries that are inappropriate for young children “she was worried that she was getting too fat” “she worried about wars and bombs”
Essentially, the book gives a list of reasons why she shouldn’t share her problems with her parents/ siblings/ friends/ teacher. And in the end, this young child shares her problems with a stranger on a wall down the street. Completely the wrong message to be sending children in my opinion.
The idea of problems looking small when they are out in the open is a sweet one, but the narrative is completely wrong. As a small, picky, aside, the old lady then throws the empty bag away into woodland at the end of the book. Which I also don’t think is an appropriate message to be sending.

This book is full of gorgeous original Winnie the Pooh illustrations but the text has been shortened and modified slightly to make it more readable for modern audiences which is great. I adored Winnie the Pooh stories as a child but the original books are very long and wordy and not easy to read to my 2 year old. This book retains all the charm of the old stories but is nicely compact and tells a lovely simple story of friendship and kindness and good old fashioned Christmas spirit.

It’s a much smaller, thinner book than I had anticipated, and nothing like the jolly postman (there are no physical letters to take out and read) - the title can be a little misleading in this way so don’t get caught out!

Overall a very sweet book.

In times when it seems so much is like a caricature of the Monty Python news sketch of the “Minister without portfolio”, i.e. everything has to be explained in ever more simplistic pictures and videos, a return to the traditional high-quality of the BBC radio is a relief. Intended for my grandchildren, it allows them to concentrate their own imaginations as prompted by this great story.

It is a good example of story-telling at its best, both the original book and its re-telling by the BBC.

I’ve never read Winnie-the-Pooh or any of A.A Milne’s books before but I’m familiar with the characters from the screen. So even though I hadn’t read the book before I felt like Pooh, Tiger, Rabbit, Eyeore, Piglet, Christopher Robin and the Hundred Acre Wood were dear old friends. It was a pleasure to read. The illustrations are quite sparse but lovely and of a high standard. I get why this book and other books are so popular.

What's there to say about good ol' Winnie that hasn't already been said? It's a classic book that's perfect for children and adults. Winnie-the-pooh is poignant, beautiful and timeless. The story it weaves about the adventures of Pooh is one that everyone should experience at least once. All this is only made better by the lovely drawings that help weave the story as it forms in your imagination.

There is an innocence to Winnie-the-Pooh that is almost altogether lost in the modern day and harkens back to our collective childhoods where we dream of halcyon days and dream of adventures with our friends.

This is all bolstered by the fantastic quality of the book itself (i.e the paper quality). Seriously, just buy this already!
