Based on the book Charlie & the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, this fantasy film, shot in Bavaria, stars Gene Wilder and became popular with adults as well as children due to it's surreal imagery, surprisingly dark message and quirky, infectious music. Written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse, the score was nominated for an Oscar in 1971 for Best Score and includes the hits "The Candy Man" and "Pure Imagination." Debuting on CD, this 25th anniversary edition soundtrack features digital remastering and new liner notes.

映画は好きだし主役のジーン・ワイルダーのファンなので買った
エンディングの高揚感？いつまでも幸せに暮らしました。なおとぎ話にぴったりな名曲！

楽しくて、夢がいっぱい詰まっているという感じでした。聴いていると映画のシーンが浮かんできます。リアルタイムでこの世界を体験していた当時のこどもたちが本当にうらやましい。すばらしい一枚です。

映画自体すごくカッコいいんですが、改めて、このサントラを聴いていると、
効果音のカッコいい使い方や、音の遊びが改めて分かる感じに編集されていて
非常に分かりやすくまとまってます。

Listening to this Soundtrack is like re-living the movie. All of the iconic songs are there from the opening on; in order of appearance as well as some spoken dialogue scenes such as when Charlie meets the tinker and of course Willy Wonka's quotes during the tracks. The Oompa Loompa songs are all here as well!

If you love the movie or if you need something to brighten your spirits and give you a good laugh, definitely pick this up.

I have always enjoyed the film version of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory ever since I was a small child. The stiry was the main draw but the soundtrack and songs are also very good. This collection has all the songs and a few instrumentals as well that come in at important parts of the film.

If you know the film well then you can easily recognise what is going on with the story by the music, and the story is told through the music (in a way). In the most part the tracks could be extracts from the film as there are cast voices during the pieces. This, to me, adds to the charm of the collection.

Great selection of tracks, bad sound quality on some tracks

This is a great album with a great selection of tracks from the film. Given that this was a film from 1971, I wasn't expecting the sound quality to be perfect, but it is particularly bad on some tracks. The background strings on "pure imagination" sound very fuzzy and distorted.

The record itself is painted gold. There is a non-removable plastic film over the record, which I assume is to protect the gold paint. It is thin enough that it doesn't seem to prevent the needle from picking up the grooves. I wonder if that's what's causing the poor sound quality on several of the tracks.

The full track listing is printed on the "B" side. I would think they should have printed the track listing for side A on side A and the one for side B on side B, or just printed them all on side A. This is a little confusing when trying to figure out which side to play.

Overall, a nice novelty gift, but not great for anyone who is a serious enthusiast of music or of the film.

Again, like Rio soundtrack (q.v) I was a little taken aback that this recording last just under 40 minutes. What you get is incidental music and songs from the film, as well as dialogue and sound effects. One of these, Everlasting gobstoppers/Oompa-Loompah (Track 10) is just a lot of confusing sounds, followed by the Oompa-Loompah's song. The bubble machine (Track 11) is my least favourite track on the disc. The music is fine, but the sound effects include the whole burping sequence and as mentioned in the earlier review of the the movie (q.v) I did not like it then. The quality seems to dip slightly in the Wondrous Boat Ride (Track 9). Favourite tracks are 2(The Candyman),4(Cheer up Charlie),6(I've got a golden ticket),7(Pure imagination) and 12(I want it now!.) There are some good incidental pieces as well, and for under £5, it's not bad value.
