Whimsical Verse is a collection of poetry suitable for children aged 5 to 12. The poems and drawings in Whimsical Verse were created with the younger reader in mind. Initially, the book introduces poetry for the earlier years, and grows with the child as the book progresses. Several of the pieces were first published in the NSW Department of Education's School Magazine and in FreeXpresSion magazine.
Written with humour, Whimsical Verse is subtly educational, encouraging environmental and self awareness. The light illustrations add to its pleasure. While perfect for both home and classroom, this is a book that can, in fact, be read and enjoyed by people of all ages.
Toni has always been keenly interested in the welfare of children. It was with this love she pursued a career in nursing, receiving her General Trained Nurses Certificate at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children at Camperdown, NSW. Toni writes regularly and decided to bring her collection of children's poetry, written over many years, into the one anthology, culminating in Whimsical Verse.
