At the end of World War II, Eva Muller and Zoe Lambros flee to Australia to seek refuge from war-ravaged Europe and forge a new life. Their enemies have been vanquished and a new life awaits them but nothing is ever what it seems. As refugees they struggle with prejudice and intolerance but that is the least of their worries. Shadows from their past bring a new danger into their lives. They are about to find out the hard way that moving thousands of miles away does not protect them from those that wish them harm. Eva has to deal with the ramifications of her tortured past as she tries to overcome the mental constraints forced upon her in Nazi Germany. Wanting nothing more than to show how much she loves Zoe, Eva is going to work through her pain to achieve her goal. Zoe will never be described as a patient woman but for Eva she is willing to wait for those shackles to be broken. Pick up a copy of Where Shadows Linger and discover two incredible women who have endured whatever fate has thrown at them and meet every obstacle with courage, strength and reliance on each other.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written historical fiction book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great WWII movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

The backdrop of the Australian outbacks, the life in Australia back then, the emotional struggles and conflicts are the key success elements of the book. Given that stories like Brokeback Moutain still cause quite a stir in America today, you can imagine how challenging it would be back then. Its very hard to imagine the mostly friendly people today, the Aussies, could be so mean back then...its a good nostalgic ride of Brokeback Moutain in Australia
"Where the Shadows Linger" is the 2nd book in the "Intertwined Souls" series and takes place in the aftermath of World War II, which is where the two met on opposite sides of the conflict. They have fallen in love and are looking to make a life together. As such, they have decided to make a move to Australia together. While moving can be a great way to make a new start, we also often take our problems with us as the two quickly find out. They do make new friends but Eva continues to struggle with a difficult past. Also living as a lesbian couple in that day and age wasn't without its difficulties and prejudices, which they come into contact with as well.
I loved this second installment and continuing the journey with these two. The historical elements seemed very accurate to me and I enjoy learning about history while being entertained by an epic tale at the same time. The relationship between Eva and Zoe illustrates some real issues, marred with strong emotion that hit home for me and I am anxious to keep reading these amazing books to find out what happens next. Great read.
