My buddies and I made a raft somewhat like this one on the Lafayette River in Norfolk, Va in 1962, and have never forgotten the great times we had. I now live in Ecuador and go to the jungle yet again tomorrow. This book is simply fabulous and will bring out the boy in you; I promise you. It did so much in me that I contacted all my old friends still living and proposed building a raft here and duplicating the trip in this book, no takers, and you will see why, chickens! Terrific read!

I found this book looking on the internet, after a trip to the Napo River in my home country of Ecuador. Our guides had told us about a "crazy dude" who built his own raft and went to Brazil from Ecuador, down the Napo and Amazon rivers. I was amazed by this adventure, and had to find out more. I eventually found Henrik and his blog. What an amazing experience my friend! You are living life to the fullest, and I salute your courage and determination! Thanks for writing this book and sharing your experiences. Please, keep us posted on your new adventures to come!

An extraordinary tail about a part of the world, that very few from the modern world knows. Wow! What a freaking adventure. Well done - a fantastic story that I read straight through. He really gives you a perspective on what unexpected things you run across when you build a dang 30 ft. raft in the jungle and sail down the Amazon. Great book and a very exiting adventure to read about. Like to get a little history from the different cities and all is relevant to the story.
