I loved this book because it is extremely well written, fast paced and contains so many situations mixing recent facts with fiction that I just could not put it down. I HAD TO know who did it and why. But the reason I gave 5 stars is not just for the short breath the book caused but because the description of all the characters in the plot is so vivid I was almost watching a movie as I was reading the book... I could almost cast it real time! That made the fiction elements feel incredibly real and believable! Great attention to detail gives the reader the sense we are witnessing history real time.
I have to be honest and start saying that I mainly read epic fantasy books and I find hard reading other kind of novels.
Last time I felt so glued to a book was with Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code.
I liked very much the main character ED Diamond and Art.
The Watchman's File made me look for more information about WWII and the link between multibillion dollar companies and Germany.
Be aware though ... I did arrive late to a couple of meetings because I missed my bus/tube stop as I could not take my eyes away from the book because I wanted to know what was coming next!!
In short: great narrative, great characters and great book where you can learn history and think about the current politic situation.
A routine investigation into US businesses' historic dealings with Nazi Germany swiftly becomes a terrifying cat & mouse game for TV journalist Ed Diamond, when he uncovers the threat of nightmare repercussions for 21st Century USA. This is a frightening and well researched spy thriller, with eye opening explorations into the malignancy of extremist politics and beliefs.
Hope this amazing, enthralling story is not based on reality but on the author's fervent imagination. It is an exciting page-turner, the characters well drawn and the plot full of unexpected twists and turns. Read it now!
