Vol. 7-Crime Scene インポート
"Stick 'em up, guys! This is a bust": the familiar refrain from innumerable detective films and television series, and appropriately enough this album opens with the theme from Dragnet. This crime jazz and spy noir compilation provides the perfect accompaniment to playing cops and robbers or to living out secret agent fantasies--the exotic foreign agent, the gadgets and the fast car. Every track is a lounge version of the biggest film themes ever scored--or scored to. These tracks are brassy ("The Man With The Golden Arm" and "From Russia With Love") and bongo laden ("Mission Impossible" and "Search for Vulcan"); they scream with organs and vibes. The ice cold, menthol blue voice of Vikki Carr on "The Silencers" provides the penultimate track. The final track is a gem indeed, featuring the great Alfred Hitchcock himself on "Music To Be Murdered By" by Jeff Alexander. --F.B.Hawkes

Great late night listening and it's my ambition to own the entire series!
Mood music, memory jogger, nostalgia all in one.
Put it in the car stereo, wind the windows down and the volume up and watch the heads turn!
Not all audio hooligans are under 19 playing the latest chart!
It may not be Exotica as you might be expecting, but it is still in the genre. Very cool music to sit around a tiki bar and listen to. The booklet that comes with each one is pretty informative AND each one has a couple of recipes for drinks that go with each CD. Who woulda thunk?
I have been getting the different Ultra Lounge releases as I can - so go ahead, click the "buy" button and enjoy.
I couldn't imagine, although I should have realized, that Exotica music can be put to almost any "style" of music, and make it sound different AND better.
I was slow to order this CD because, given the title, I thought it would be excessively macho, harsh and dark. It's not. It's brassy and bold. One contribution is entitled "Music to be Murdered By," but the CD feels vibrant and vital. I think a good subtitle might be "Music to Break-up By," because it conveys a swagger and affirmative air.
But there is so much more to this CD (and ALL of the Ultra-Lounge series) than meets the ear. The first rule, whether its Vegas; Wild, Cool & Swingin', or a Tiki motif, just have fun....Swing, Baby, Swing!
