THE FIRST EVER RECORD BY A POWER TRIO THAT WAS THIS HEAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2017年7月14日 - (Amazon.com)
i feel the sound is very good here, i was suprised in summer 2017 to see this come out as an sacd as the cd format is getting kind of out of date sadly as streaming keeps getting pushed more and more, anyway very pleased to get this as next to spooky tooth from the uk blue cheer where probably the heaviest band with a major recording contract by early 1968. this album has become so legendary and as the decades go by and by even the newer generations pick up on this band but particularly THIS RECORD BY THEM as this was there best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it says limited numbered edition and i have number 540 so im not sure how limited this really is??? anyway this was also released back in january in japan as an shm japan only remastered cd with a replica of the real original lp sleeve that sounds about the same as this, i was lucky enough to see blue cheer 10 years ago in 07 in nyc a bit over two years prior to dickies passing, this was one of the most stand out records of 1968 as this was also pre BLACK SABBATH AND LED ZEPPELIN..... these guys where one of the first killer power trios to come along, they blew the minds of all the bigger bands they opened up for like THE WHO as they where so heavy, i read in a WHO book recently how townshend recalled blue cheer opening a few shows for THE WHO in 1968 and he never forgot there manager was a hells angel and just how heavy they where both live and on this record, for rock fans of all kinds of 60s rock i feel this belongs in your collection weather it be on vinyl, shm cd, standard cd or THIS ONE SACD ( even if you are a deadhead) you will find something on here that blows you away, blue cheers version of rock me baby is also probably one of the best versions i ever heard of that song where i always felt THE WHO did the best version of summertime blues, i like some of the records that blue cheer did after this but they did a really killer one in 1985 that gets forgotten that was called THE BEAST IS BACK, when i bought that in 1985 i was shocked how blue cheer where sounding like the heavy metal bands of the mid 1980s, also there is another album out there that came out back in 2012 of unreleased blue cheer tracks that where recorded in 1978 and 1979 that never got released until 2012 that really will blow you away, this band had so much power the 5 decades they lasted on and off and it was to bad i did not go see them live until i was almost 40 years old, i had the chance in the mid 1980s and again a number of times post 2000 but i only went in 07 and im glad i at least did that, anyway THIS RECORD IS AS CLASSIC as MACHINE HEAD, LED ZEPPELIN TWO, PARANOID, ARE YOU EXPERIENCED OR MY GENERATION with its own heavy heavy doomy ahead of its time sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP DICKIE you where one of the best!!
Rock Me Baby) have beefed up low end - in a great way. The biggie though is "Second Time Around" ...
2017年6月23日 - (Amazon.com)
Compared to the cheapo CD that has been out all these years, some songs (Doctor Please, Out Of Focus, Parchman Farm) sound literally exactly the same (but lower - the whole Audio Fidelity CD is lower). Others songs (Summertime Blues, Rock Me Baby) have beefed up low end - in a great way. The biggie though is "Second Time Around" which is a totally different mix, never before heard on CD. It is not super wide panned stereo like the other songs. Everything is more panned to the middle, kinda like a mix that is midway between the stereo mix we all know and the mono mix on the Sundazed CD. I suspect they used it by mistake, or maybe they could no locate the stereo mix that matches the rest of the album. So this alone is a great reason to buy this CD (if you are a diehard Vincebus fan), even if the wide stereo mix we are used to is better.
