Normally after i read a terrible book like World Tour I just skip around but since I've always been an X-Men fan I decieded to be leinent. BUT IM SORRY THIS WAS TERRIBLE. Now I'm not even talking story wise I'm talking artwise too. And since I'm not going to make this reveiw long I would really not sudjest this to anyone unless your collecting the entire series like me. P.S this book made forget about goin in order so I went from 1-4 to 18-19 and now 8 and now I'm getting 15.

I'm a old shcool X-men fan , the ultimate X-men Comics are cool . don't get me wrong , but I grew up watching the Fox Kids cartoons and reading the Comics in witch Wolverine , Cyclops , Jean Gray , Storm and Beast were cool , These new comics kinda tone down the characters and give them more of a helpless high school kids theme . I still enjoy reading this collection of books , but not as much as the original , Overall , I say buy it .

This is a really good continuation of the series and has a lot of foreshadowing into later X-Men events. Definitely worth a read. Beautiful artwork as well.

I've been reading comics since I was in my pre-teens and am now in my mid-30s and this has to be one of the worst graphic novels I've ever read! The story is weak but the worst part is the art-work, which is absolutely terrible, especially the switch in styles mid-volume for issues 23 - 25. Marvel should be embarrased for releasing this extremely sub-par piece of work. I would highly NOT recommend this volume.
5つ星のうち 4.0 Interim stories setting up bigger ones. 2012/11/19

To my mind there are three main storythreads in this collection of Ultimate X-Men (# 21-25): 1) Jean Grey is experiencing her "visions" and some psychic torment as the Phoenix entity emerges, manipulated by Charles Xavier's heretofore financial backers, the Hellfire Club; (2) a distrusting and lovelorn Beast is getting involved with an on-line love interest but is getting played by...the Blob! and (3) after the introduction of Kitty Pryde Wolverine and Cyclops come to blows and, after Xavier gives them a psychic "time out", sends them off together to the Savage Land to investigate the disappearance of Shield troops. The art switches throughout the issues between Adam Kubert and Kaare Andrews and, while this causes a bit of shock to the system as Andrews' art is closer akin to manga, the art all around is enjoyable and there is nice detail to emotional responses in our characters. As for the storylines, they all feel like interim or set-up stories for bigger ones to come while showcasing little slices of life and personality differences with both our heroes and the villains. If you want to know storythread spoilers read on!

1) The third collection of Ultimate X-Men is a must-read before volume 4 here. There you will learn a lot about Xavier and that he's not entirely all that he seems cracked up to be. One of the things that you'll find is that he has conveniently lied or hidden certain truths from his students, including that all of wealth that he purportedly uses out of his own coffers is indeed not true as he has powerful secret financiers. Here in volume 4 you find that those financiers are members of the Hellfire Club (you'll get a little giggle out of hearing whom some of the members are) and they have an agenda: to raise the Phoenix! Which they do, briefly before it is subdued, but not before it kills many of the Hellfire Club's own. This particular storyline played out nicely but ultimately felt thin.

2) A minor but very important storyline to be sure was Beast distancing himself from his X-compatriots and, particularly, girlfriend Storm after the revelations of Volume 3. He does not trust that Storm would freely be interested in him and thinks that Xavier was messing with her mind in order to get him to stick with the team. Now a lovelorn Beast has found a fawning female soul on-line and has been exchanging e-mails with her and has become more and more entraced with her, especially when she all of a sudden expresses that she herself has just discovered that she too is a mutant. He works up the courage to ask her to meet in person but not before he lets go of the information that Xavier, contrary to the popular belief, didn't kill Magneto and that Magneto is still alive. Well, Beast was played by none other than the disgusting Blob and some of Blob's expressions are perfect, including his surprise of learning that Mags was still alive. It doesn't take long for the Brotherhood to find and "wake" him up. You'd think that Magneto would have been grateful. Well, he wasn't. This is a very satisfying storyline that was played out with humor and surprise.

3) The introduction of Kitty Pryde was handled nicely but I do regret that they lost her distinctly Jewish ancestry and made her mother (at least) more of a hard-bitten atheist. [I've noticed that a general hostility toward religion, and theistic beliefs in particular, have been subtlely expressed in this series.] Kitty is a teenage girl and is very impetuous. She is admitted into Xavier's school only under the respects per her mother that she will not be involved in any "superhero" action. While Xavier and the others try to honor this she stows away the Blackbird when Wolverine and Cyclops, after a brutal fight with each other and where Cyclops almost got offed by Wolverine, are sent to the Savage Land to investigate missing soldiers. What they find there, besides a reorganized sentient computer with plans for humanity's destruction, is the stowed away Kitty. This story is also played out well but is essentially filler, meant to highlight the differences between Logan and Scott and play up Kitty's personality and contributions to the team. A good read for what it is.

All of the storylines are well-blended and the pace is kept lively. But, like I said, read Volume 3 first if you haven't already.
