「Transformers: Dark of the Moon: Foundation」についてのレビューです。
ハヤカワ文庫のゴースト・オブ・イエスタデイよりもさらに昔々、オプティマスがメガトロンと共にセイバートロン星に居た頃の話となっています。
オールスパークもセイバートロン星にあり、センチネル・プライムが指導者だった時代、
二人が袂を分かつようになった経緯などが描かれており、是非日本語版が欲しいところです。
何故今更そんな話をとも思う所ですが、最後の方に描かれたメガトロンのセリフに、きっと映画を見た方なら「ああ」と納得する事でしょう。
エネルゴンを求めるセイバートロンの子供達の表現がちょっとホラー。
小説、映画とも異なるアメコミのみの設定なのか共通設定なのか、色々判断に迷う所もありますが、全ての始まりの物語として、買って損は無い内容だと思います。
そしてスタースクリームはやっぱりスタースクリームだった。

Another Movie-prequel set in Cybertron

Following suit of the previous film's marketing, Dark of the Moon features a trilogy of comic adaptations: a prequel set WAY before the events of all 3 movies, a prequel set directly after the last movie and a straight adaptation of the film proper. Foundation is the first of these, being a story set on Cybertron, building on elements which will appear in the upcoming film, most notably, Sentinel Prime.

As plots go this is nothing we've not seen before really, as with Defiance (in my opinion, the best of the movie comics set on Cybertron) the crux of the story is Optimus' relationship with Megatron and how the void widened between them. This is well travelled ground for any Transformer continuity, but the movie comics seem to enjoy devoting special attention to it. I will grant that Foundation sows the seeds of Megatron's fall a lot earlier and deeper than Defiance, thus making his rather abrupt change into all-out evil more believable, but it wasn't a story that especially needed telling and I'm assuming that Sentinel Prime's miracle device (which goes unexplained in the book) will be explained in the movie.

The art is mostly good, though the complex designs often make for some bizarre facial expression (as much as a face is discernable from all the pieces) but otherwise clean and well coloured.

I bought this mostly to complete my TF movie collection and on its own merits it doesn't really stand out. Not bad, but not groundbreaking either.

After reading both the excellent Foundation and Rising Storm, I immediately ordered this book. I'm way too impatient to wait for the film!

I don't want to spoil the plot of the film for anyone else (of you more patient people out there), but rest assured, it's gonna be awesome if this book is anything to go by. Plently of plot twists and suprises. So even if you are waiting to see the film first, still grab this and read it when you're back from the cinema.

I get the feeling that the film will involve a lot more little details (and action sequences etc that are better suited to the big screen) which will really flesh this book out nicely. I'd also say that if the film is very close to the plot of this book (as I think it will be), then it will be important to have read both Foundation and Rising Storm - so check them out too!

Overall, this was a great read, with superb pacing and artwork, and has really got me excited for the film. I just hope it's as good as this graphic novel!

I can't remember the specific reason of 'Why did i buy this?'.
What i do remember though, is that it spoiled some plot points from the movie, specifically, that Sentinal is a traitor and Ironhide dies.
