Being fairly new to the guitar I have really found this book helpful in more ways than I thought I would. I would recommend this book and others by the same author to help things become clearer

I would like to say this book is easy to follow and read. It works at all levels whether your a complete beginner or someone wanting to improve. Not only that the online support which you get is an added bonus. Luke has been really responsive to support if your struggling to get something and with feedback. So well recommended and thank you!

Like any player, I have better skills in some techniques than others. As a 5 Minute Jams customer, I was offered a review copy of Total Guitar Workout in exchange for a review.
Rather than repeat what other reviewers are saying about the thoroughness and ease of use (all true, BTW) I will simply say this: I found the contents of the book to be so valuable, that I bought a published copy on Amazon so I could download the online bonus material.
Yeah, it's that good!

The goal of this book is to provide exercises that isolate different playing mechanics. What I like: It is a simple book to follow, and will not take much work to go through for skilled players. I found some of the exercises to be original and helpful. What I did not like: The book is unacceptably small for a music exercise book. I would guess that the font on the tab was about 6, but could be smaller. Thankfully most of the tab is simple enough to memorize but this is not a book you will lay on a music stand while you play unless you have excellent vision. The text is unnecessarily repetitive and contains an abundance of cheesy encouragements. It feels like filler that perhaps compensates for the reality that there is not a huge amount of content in the book. The book had a great introduction to expression, control and dynamics, and I wish these topics were fleshed out much more. Some of the left-hand “finger gym” exercises seemed silly. There are a few challenging sweep exercises that will only be of potential use to those who are already fairly accomplished in that art. Final perspective: There are cons, particularly the book’s size. Some of the exercises will be overly familiar to intermediate players. But I thought some of the exercises on right-hand picking control and expression, as well as left finger independence had merit and will be incorporated into my practice regimen.

The most unique book

This is the best guitar book I have ever had the chance of studying with. Being a beginner I have read a lot of guitar books but this one made learning so much easier. I really enjoyed how there was four parts to everything, How To Do It, What To Focus On, Why it's Beneficial and Where To Next and each one was short and to the point. I don't like books that have lots of reading and theory before getting to the point or the exercises. I also enjoy the webpage that goes with the book. It's really simple to understand and go through. I have bought several of Luke Zecchin's guitar books and I have been pleased with all of them. His writing and book designs are a pleasure to study with. Give one of Luke's books a try. You won't be disapointed.
