Kevin Hornsey began studying the martial arts at the age of 12. He progressed well in Taekwondo, earning the coveted Black Belt at the age of 15 to become one of the youngest to do so in the UK at that time.

As Chief Referee for the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) Kevin is regularly invited to put his skills to use as Referee Delegate for the UK at European and World Championship competition and was selected to be one of only 24 International Referees worldwide to participate in the Sydney Olympic Games at the inauguration for Taekwondo as a full participation sport.
I found this slick 144 page soft cover book very interesting and informative. The full color photographs of the techniques are clear and easy to understand. The three parts cover a lot of essential information all students of Taekwondo should know about this self-defense art. Part one covers a detailed introduction to Taekwondo explaining the philosophy of Taekwondo, proper conduct, bowing, and how to tie your belt. Part two focuses on training showing warm up methods, basic techniques such as stances, punching, blocking, striking, kicking and forms (Poomsae). The final part deals with sparring techniques, self-defense and breaking practice.
This book can serve as an excellent reference source when combined with actual hands-on training with a Taekwondo instructor.
