On the Surface: My Thirty Year Career In Cruise Entertainment (English Edition) Kindle版
Two young entertainers elude the mob and serendipitously stumble upon a livelihood performing at sea. It was the 1970s, when Captains were kings and pretty dancers made them beg, when passengers read books in deck chairs facing the ocean spray, and when solid ships, unfazed by rough seas, turned disaster into romance.

A Fun Read...2017年1月30日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済み
I had the opportunity to work for Connie Dickmeyer and Greg McDonald on the SS Britanis. Reading about their career on shops leading up to and after my stint as a dancer brought me right back to my days of working on ships! Congrats Connie on writing your book and sharing your legacy!
Funny and madcap!2017年2月25日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済み
I was almost booted off the MetroNorth quiet car for laughing too much. Let this book warn star-struck youth that, even with a boatload of talent, the life of an entertainer is tough. Connie Dickmeyer writes well, mixing the adventure of constant travel with the travails of personalities and less than desirable working conditions. An excellent look behind the chorus line’s smiles.

Wow ! this took me back Connie what a great read.I worked on Ellinis, Britanis and The Victoria from 1977-1985 so knew a lot of the people mentioned and experienced much of what you write about.Your description of disembarkation mayhem in San Juan was spot on as were your other observations of life on board at that time.My wife and I loved our time on those lovely old ships and the happy memories far outweigh the bad ones. Thanks for taking me back.
Irresistible page turner for anyone interested in cruise ships and the people who make them happen!2015年1月9日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済み
A must read for anyone who wants the back story to the business of entertainment on cruise ships in the 70's- into the new millennium. Great for fans of the old Greek ships and the offerings of cruise lines such as Chandris, Fantasy, Regent, Bahamas, and Celebrity. A candid, funny, witty, and heartfelt first hand report based on decades of letters sent home to mom. If you worked on, or sailed on these lines you may well be included in a chapter. Most names changed to protect the guilty!
