If you have read and enjoyed any of the works of Frances Yates, you will be very happy with 'Spiritual & Demonic Magic'. Yes, it was first published back in 1958, but it remains the foundation book in English on this topic in the Renaissance period, especially taken in conjunction with Yates' "Giordano Bruno". I have not, however, yet read Brian Copenhaver's recent (2018) 'Magic in Western Culture: from Antiquity to Enlightenment' which, despite the subtitle, seems firmly anchored in Ficino and the Renaissance, and would thus be comparable with Walker. Copenhaver does however provide a new (2000) and helpful introduction to Walker, plus a list of recent work on the subject. Highly recommended.

So this book is more innocent than the title and front page indicates...muahahah....once your in....muahaha I mean.. you got this far keep going! Get it! Books playfully laid out.
Amazing book, well researched but not bogged down in munutia. Many of these early Philospher/Magician /Scientists walked a thin line between the Inquisition and advancing us out of the Dark Ages.
Pedantic and poorly written, a ton of fluff. Wish I hadn't bothered, probably will put in the drop box at the local library. Not surprised it's no longer printed.
