    They Might Be Giantsにとって、スタジオ・アルバムとしては10枚目(オンラインでのみ入手可能な『Long Tall Weekend』を含む)となる2004年リリースの作品。
    "Purple Topee"や"I Palindrome I"や"Bangs"を髣髴させる不条理だけどちょっと物悲しいM1、負け犬ソングのM3、ビートルズチックでサイケなM4、デヴィッド・ボウイ、F・ルーズベルト、ジョディ・フォスター、マハトマ・ガンジーを茶化したM12、最近力を入れているpodcastにお似合いのM15など彼ららしくて気に入った曲が多いのですが、これまでの作品と比べると全体的には地味な曲ばかりという印象は否めず、彼らに初めて触れるような人に薦められる作品としては迷います。最近は子供向け需要にも傾倒していたり、グラミー賞受賞の影響か、TV向けの仕事が増えているようなので、これらの仕事の差別化の結果で迷いがあるのかもしれませんね。ただし、新しい事に試みていたりしますし、全体的な完成度自体は低くないと思うので、以前から愛聴してたファンは十分楽しめると思います。

    子供の頃から自分だけがわかる、大切にしたい世界観て誰でもあると思うんです。でも本当は･･･ほんのちょっとでいいから誰かわかってくれないかなって思ってたりして。。そういう面では、意地を張ってもひねくれてても不器用でも良いと思うな。
    そんな世界観を感じるベルセバが大好きで検索していたところ、They Might Be Giaiantsに行き当たりました。大好きな大人の人に自分のことをわかってもらいたい小学生みたいな気分になります。

    Like a lot of TMBG's stuff, this album takes a while to fully appreciate. There are a number of catchy tunes that grab you right off, but the rest takes a while to wrap its tentacles around your mind and make you believe that truly these guys are saying what you would have said if only you had thought of it first.

    I loved Mink Car and I think this album's slightly better--more consistent, and, in certain spots, even more hilarious.

    If you like a catchy tune, you love a catchy parody, you don't mind listening to songs twenty times before understanding them, and you laugh at other people's jokes (and not just your own), then there's a good chance you'll like this album.

    I got this CD because it has the single "Damn Good Times" on it. Another great song I like is "Stalk of Wheat". Solid album from TMBG.

    I'd say I like about half of the tracks on this album. A lot of it just seemed like filler unfortunately... but songs like Experimental Film, Museum of Idiots, Prevenge, Broke in Two, and Damn Good Times definitely make the album worthwhile.
