The comply foam tips rock. I can't hear a thing when I have these in. I can't really comment on build quality because I have always kept them in their case, wrapped properly. But they seem very well made, and I really like the material the buds are made out of. Very metal, if thats possible. I personally don't get feedback from the wire rubbing on anything. I only get noise when tension on the wire causes them to move in my ear, which is expected.
I listen mostly to heavy modern metal and modern rap. (and sara brightman's time to say goodbye) both have a lot of emphasis on mids and bass, but really test all aspects of music.
I could not imagine better sound from buds without spending 6 times the price. I have tried sooo many in-ears below 50 bucks it is ridiculous. Sara Brightman's time to say goodbye sounded slightly better on my Ultimate Ears 5 EB but not extremely. Those are amazing phones though.
The bass is very good. Extremely punchy, and can sustain low notes well too. Bass is probably ideal in my opinion. wish all headphones hit this hard. Guitar is very prominent. So are highs. I don't have extremely trained audiophile ears, but something sounds recessed. could be the higher mids. metal vocals sound a little recessed.
Hope this is helpful, I have searched a LONG time for affordable in-ear headphones like this, and if the build quality turns out to be good and they last a long time i will be buying these again and again. Most of my headphones don't last much longer than a month because i am so hard on them.
so far these are great phones; amazing bass (vibrate your eyes when bass hits in rap), and overall VERY fun to listen to. i like hard-hitting bass in my metal soo. double bass is extremely fun with these. pick up a pair, i dont think you will regret it. They are a lot of fun to listen to.
EDIT: wire is coming loose on the plug end of them. it cuts out when i walk. going to need to rip it apart and re-solder the thing. good news is, i like the sound so much, i might upgrade the wire if i can get into the buds themselves. that way i can make them really durable haha
changed to three stars for not being built to withstand the hell i put them through. im hard on phones, ill admit it. but that means that it is a big selling point if someone tells me that a pair can take it.
I'll simply say this: These are the best pair I've used compared to all the various other earbuds, and even mid-range closed-ear headphones, I've owned over the years.
-Best sound quality I've heard in ANY headphone I've owned. Only much more expensive sets that I've tried at the store sound better, but not significantly.
-Comply foam tips create a perfect seal, eliminating virtually all outside noise while listening at even low levels. I even wear them on the subway when I'm not listening to anything just as ear plugs to block out the high-pitched sounds of grinding metal, homeless people singing, and mariachi bands.
-Comply foam tips are the most comfortable fit of any bud I've used, I forget I'm wearing them after awhile
-Great little round case to keep them protected and clean
-Comes with extra set of Comply foam tips
NOTE: There are TWO versions of these buds, both are identical except one comes only with RUBBER tips, not Comply foam tips! Make sure you check the description. Richmond Wholesale sells the version WITH the Comply foam tips!
-Foam tips get dirty and discolored from ear wax over time (but hey, I don't have to clean my ears myself now!)
-This is minor, but it would be nice to be able to draw the cords for each bud up close together towards your neck, but there is no plastic "ring" on these to do so.
When chewing gum, its no different.
Maybe theres a work around way of sticking em in but ah well.
Either way; these earbuds are highly recommended from me.
The cord length is also something I had/am having to get used to. I prefer when the right cord is longer than the left, so it can easily be draped across the back of your neck, so if you need to pop them out real fast, they don't dangle on the floor. The cords are the same length which makes it hard to do this without having one side keep slipping off your neck and creating a tug of war situation.
You'll have to decide for yourself; the sound quality really is excellent.
