With style emulated by millions of women, Carrie Bradshaw has become the fashion icon of our day. Nearly half of this book is devoted to showcasing and detailing the wardrobe and accessories worn by the women in the movie. As a complete guide to Sex and the City 2, the book is also filled with exclusive plot details, interviews with cast and crew, and never-before-told stories about the making of the film. The fashions, the friendship, and the fun are all gorgeously illustrated by more than 500 downright fabulous photos of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte, and the rest of the stellar cast.
Fans just can't get enough of Sex and the City. This book will be a must-have for the millions who made the show the highest-rated on cable TV; who bought 400 million worth of tickets to the first movie; and who made the book that tied in with that film a New York Times bestseller!
“For fashionistas, the best part is the beautifully-illustrated section that provides every last detail about the clothes, shoes and accessories worn by Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), along with commentary by the star.”
“From the welcoming introductions penned by Parker and King, to the amiable commentary provided by cast and crew, to the book's light tone of writing and handsomely displayed movie images, this offering will make readers feel like they are part of an affectionate extended family.”
The emphasis on this book is the fashion; for Sarah Jessica Parker, her character Carrie's outfits are detailed in page after page, giving the info on the outfits, jewelry, and shoes. The other three stars do not get the same amount of space, which is a shame, because the entire franchise of Sex and the City is about the ensemble. It does get a little sickening how much SJP puts herself front and center with the publicity.
Plenty of other interesting anecdotes though: how Morocco filled in for Dubai, how the set was created for Stanford's wedding, Liza Minnelli's surprise gift to the cast, and how a Times Square restaurant was transformed into Samantha's office. The beginning of the book gives a brief recap of where the characters were at the end of the last movie, which serves as a nice bridge.
Fans of the second movie will enjoy this book. My only other gripe is that a hardcover edition was not made available.
I loved the first companion book that came out with the first movie. Much more detailed and much more back story on the actual movie.
This book seems to be a tribute to how SJP can look so fabulous all the time. It gives no real clue as to what is happening in the actual movie. Yes, I know we all love the fashions of SATC but what about the story!!!
If I hadn't already seen the movie, I would not have even known there were guys in this movie, only get a fleeting look in this book.
If you really love SATC, then don't bother with this book. Watch the old DVD's, they won't let you down.
