5つ星のうち4.0Not a complete 'How To" but gives valuable insights that are actually useful!!
Books like this do tend to be ten to the dozen but this one does convey a great method. My only issue with it, hence the 4 stars, is the author does waffle quite a bit, What I mean is he says the same thing, three different ways which makes reading it a little tedious. It is likely just his style as he wants to get his message across, unfortunately he just over does it in his writing.
HOWEVER that aside, it is worth reading as it does convey the ideas to help you promote yourself as a photographer, with the right kind of site. The content is good however it was written. Although like all books it is not the ultimate source, this is how you need to do it. It gives you a lot of direction to go and improve what you have now and how you go about it.
I have a couple of books I have bought on this side of photography, this I would happily recommend over others as you will gain some great insights.
This is a comprehensive and very inspiring book which will be very helpful to anyone not only selling fine art photography but also most other kind of art as a business.
It explains clearly why our pre-conceptions of what should be done are wrong and it goes on giving all the elements needed to sell fine art the right way. It is concise and straight to the point, maybe a little repetitive on the things not to do but only because this is very important to understand the need of doing it differently..
Once you finish the book you will feel extremely confident and positive about selling your fine art. The rest is up to you...
5つ星のうち5.0Recommended reading for all photographers looking to improve their marketing
Although aimed at fine art photographers, the information in this book will be pertinent to photographers of any genre who are looking to increase their client base and ultimately increase sales.
Nigel writes in such a manner that anyone, no matter their experience level when it comes to marketing, can understand and follow the path laid out in this book.
There is no magic bullet, and of course you still have to make the effort to get the work done, but this book will show you not only what you should be doing, but also why, and exactly how to go about it too.
For those like me investigating the feasibility of creating a profitable fine art photography business this book provides a framework and insights born of real experience. It has given me a good foundation to take action.
Consigliato.
In a strange way the actual title is wrong, this is really about how to sell yourself and your service. The information given is very precise and help is detailed to walk you through the world of social media. This book could be read by anyone wanting to get a head start on an online business.
For years I've been struggling to put together my marketing system. This book could have saved me hundreds of dollars and hundreds of futile hours. I had been stumped on selling my fine art photography because it was so different to how I was accustomed to selling my other photographic services, like assignments and stock photos. This book is brilliant in every way. It is insightful, helpful, and has given me a whole new perspective. Merrick has covered every angle with plain language and has devised a step-by-step system with very easily implementable actions. In fact, what I've done is taken the chapter outline of this book and I am using it as the template for my new marketing plan.
5つ星のうち5.0This book makes the info presented just... click.
I consumed this book in just a few hours over two sittings. I got it new and now it sits full of highlighter yellow, sticky notes, hand written notes and dog-eared pages. It doesn't seem that there's really all that much "new" information in there (or perhaps not so new to me as I've been researching the topic) but Nigel has a refined writing style that makes the information really CLICK! I'm going to initiate all of the programs/procedures he recommends and am looking forward to seeing how this "long game" plays out. If you're interested in selling your photography as "fine art" this is an excellent place to start! easy 5 stars.
