SALUTE THE WRECKAGE, Clint Margrave's second collection of poems, explores the universe within us and the universe in which we live. From the origins of stars to the strings of a guitar; from a rogue planet drifting through the emptiness of space; to the rogue feelings drifting through the arteries of the heart; SALUTE THE WRECKAGE is a salutation to being human and the frailty and beauty of existence.
Clint Margrave's work has appeared in numerous magazines including The New York Quarterly, Rattle, Ambit, Chiron Review, and Pearl, as well as in the anthologies At the Gate: Arrivals and Departures (Kings Estate Press, 2010), Beside the City of Angels: An Anthology of Long Beach Poetry (World Parade Books, 2010), INCIDENTAL BUILDINGS & ACCIDENTAL BEAUTY (Tebot Bach, 2001) and SO LUMINOUS THE WILDFLOWERS: AN ANTHOLOGY OF CALIFORNIA POETS (Tebot Bach, 2003). He lives in Long Beach, CA.
Salute the Wreckage, is even better. His voice grows stronger, his wisdom deeper, his humanism finer.
Clint Margrave is that rare poet: clear and accessible, yet deep and many-layered at the same
time. His lively, curious wit surprises and amuses as it uncovers and speaks often inconvenient truths
and questions the authority of our received beliefs. God may be dead, as Nietzsche said, but Margrave
celebrates our humanity and our lives with courage, compassion and comradeship.
Some of his best poems in Salute the Wreckage are the moving and haunting poems
about the death of his father, such as "Commando", where with macabre humor he describes how
he and his family forgot to bring underwear to the mortuary for his father to be buried in,
and how funny they found it funny while the funeral coordinator was shocked.

"What Ahab needed
was a little mindful meditation,
a hot yoga class,
a Swedish massage,
something to unlock his anxious brain,
set him back in the present,
guide him in from the shore,
tell him his thoughts were just thoughts,
a quick Google search
to reveal he wasn't alone"
