The bumper itself came in a suitably large and sturdy “this is not some cheap accessory from the corner cell phone store” square black cardboard box, resting inside on top of a sheet of plastic bracketed by more cardboard. For lack of a better description, the presentation appeared very “Japanese.” Upon removing the bumper from its protective packaging, the recipient and I were both impressed with how light it was, and how well it fit over his phone’s buttons and rear camera. I should warn any prospective buyer that getting the thing on your cell phone is not 100% intuitive on-sight, but the bumper was accompanied by an instruction booklet that (especially convenient in my particular situation) came in both English and Japanese.
All in all, the bumper was a hit. It made a great gift and looked as expensive as it cost. The only thing I unfortunately can’t attest to is how well the thing will protect your iPhone. As curious as I was to test out the durability of the... “duralunim” (?) (that’s what the Macworld article says these things are made of), tossing the thing against the wall to satiate my own personal curiosity would have quickly erased all the good will the gift had generated to that point.
In short, it looks good, it looks expensive, it’s unobtrusive, and the iPhone buttons are as easy to access.
