You learn a lot when thrown into a crisis situation, where everyone is looking to you for answers. The system is down, the CEO is pleading to you for answers as the each minute cuts the company's bottom line. When you are in a hurry, you need some new ideas right away. This book is your helpful tool. When used correctly, you can determine solutions and even related solutions to simple (yet lesser known) areas of SQL Server. Learn what causes SQL tasks to wait or site in queues. Even if your system is not in trouble right now, you can use what you will learn in this book to view the history of wait statistics. --このテキストは、絶版本またはこのタイトルには設定されていない版型に関連付けられています。
Over 5 Joes to Pro's books. I like the books, they are quick read and to the point. You kow they are small books and cost in the $20 dollar range. Some how I was charged $300 dollars for one of the books on my credit card with Amazon. Wow what a surprise to m when I got the bill!
My remark to the book is that the explanation of the topics is way too for beginners with examples from everyday life. I am not new to SQL server but I am not so familiar with this topic. This is the reason I buy this book, but this way of explanation is too simple for me. I would prefer to have explanations more in terms of SQL.
Excellent book. Read this as a primer to "Professional SQL Server 2008 Internals and Troubleshooting" or in conjunction with it.
All up I highly recommend this book for all DBAs.
I think the best part about this book is that the author uses real world examples from his own experience in dealing with SQL Server, and also encourages feedback from his readers about what to add and improve. It's almost like taking a SQL Server wait stats course, but you just have to pay for the book. And since this is the Kindle version, you pretty much have a great reference book in the palm of your hand - no need to drag around a back pack full of heavy books. The graphics from the examples in this book are preserved in the Kindle version. They are still easy to read on the black and white Kindle screen and there are no problems with the formatting.
Over all I have to give this book a full five stars!
