これは全く知りませんでしたが、暗い感じのクラプトンが堪能できます。
ブルースを期待してはいけませんが、クラプトンがオールマイティーと言うことがよくわかります。実際クラプトンのアルバムでは個人的ベスト３に入りますね

　1992年、映画「Rush」のサウンドトラック盤です。

　全10曲中、7曲がインスト曲（tr. 1〜7）、3曲がボーカル曲（tr. 8〜10）になっています。
　tr. 9以外は、Eric Clapton作曲です。

　ボーカル曲については、
tr. 8は、ミドルテンポで、開放感のあるClapton流・Blues。
tr. 9は、Willie Dixon & Al Perkinsの共作曲を、カバー。
tr. 10は、おなじみの名バラード。亡き息子・コーンに捧げたバラードです。

　「驚き」なのが、11分弱もある、tr. 9です！
　なんと、Buddy Guyが、ボーカルを取っています！
　もちろん、ギターは、Eric Clapton & Buddy Guyの共演です。

　また、インスト曲についてですが、
「ボーカル無しで、Eric Claptonのギターを堪能できる！」というのが、大きな魅力です。
　ギタープレイについては、「Bluesy, ダンディー, 大人の哀愁」って感じで、渋いです。
　フィーリング的には、アルバム「Journeyman」収録の"Old Love"が、近いかな〜？って思います。

　演奏は、
Eric Clapton (G, Vo), Nathan East (B), Steve Ferrone (Dr), Greg Phillinganes (Key),Lenny Castro (Percussion),

Voor de liefhebber van Eric Clapton is dit best een goede soundtrack. De enige tegenvaller is het maar liefst 10 minuten durende nummer van Buddy Guy met een weinig inspirerende en veel te lange gitaarsolo. Verder voert Clapton de boventoon in de andere nummers.

this is not the first time Clapton has dabbled with soundtrack/ film score - edge of darkness being the most memorable. Neither is it the first time that a "guitar god" has thought they could do it - anyone remember Jimmy Page's attempt at "deathwish" - yes, the charles bronson/ michael winner revenge movie. This is in a different league to either of those. I don't know how these pieces fit into the film, but as seperate stand alone music, they fare pretty well.Clapton plays with fire and passion throughout. Each piece has an intensity and sense of menace. The 10 minute blues workout with Buddy Guy is worth the price of admission alone. Each of the "proper" songs are as good as anything from one of his proper albums -he is in fine voice throughout. Then there is "Tears in Heaven" - a hankies out classic. It doesn't seem to fit with the overall feel of the album, but at the time there was nowhere else for him to release it. Written for his young son who tragically fell from a skyscraper window to his death.
This album was "lost" in the blaze of glory surrounding the "unplugged" performance. Not easily found in the racks these days, do yourself a favour. At this price (£3) you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality on offer.Worthy of repeated plays, this is 40-odd minutes well spent.

The sound track for the movie Rush pushes the boundaries of Eric Clapton's genius for composition and performance beyond their previous limits. This is not the the Clapton you hear on his polished studio albums or see as the crowd-pleasing troubadour, though his mastery of those is awe inspiring.

This album is not blues/rock/pop. I'm sure there's a name for it, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know it. The only compositions that come close are "Edge of Darkness," "Concerto for Electric Guitar" (what other blues/rock guitarist would commission a classical piece), and the extraordinary "Double Trouble" solo from Just One Night.

For those of us who believe that Clapton taught the angels to play harp, this disc is a gift from the gods. The tone is as clear and pure as breaking crystal, truly the music of the spheres. Okay, I'm being florid and overly dramatic, but I did react this way the first time I heard it.

Unfortunately, the final three songs destroy the mood and beauty that come before. I'm sure they are part of the soundtrack, but a typical Clapton, a nice Buddy Guy, and the first public release of "Tears in Heaven" have no place here.

I urge you to rush out and buy Rush anyway. Just don't play the end of it.

I wondered how this would transfer from digital to vinyl. It was a great digital release, and a wonderful soundtrack. The vinyl release is rare so I chanced it. Wow! Glad I did. It’s a fantastic vinyl release on Reprise. From what I understand, this is not a remaster, just an original transfer of the 1992 release. The vinyl is quality and ultra quiet. There are no liner notes, just a white paper sleeve inside, all of the notes are on the back cover. The vinyl edition is well done, a full soundstage with clear highs and lots of bottom end as well. Compared with the CD version, it is the identical master. Which was done very well to begin with. If you’re considering it on vinyl, it’s worth it...and if you’re a Clapton fan, get it while you can!
