“Repeat Offender” by Bradley Nickell is so brilliant that I’m not a good enough writer to be worthy of posting a review for it.
With 25 years of law enforcement experience, 15 as a detective in the Repeat Offender Program in Las Vegas, it is amazing that Nickell can pen a book on a true case spanning so many years with painstaking detail about law enforcement and court procedures and make it exciting, suspenseful, and hard to put down.
Nickell’s account of Nevada’s most prolific criminal and the cop who caught him is especially powerful because it is written without judgment or condemnation, even though repeat offender Daimon Monroe ordered hits on Nickell, a chief deputy district attorney, and a judge.
It is heartwarming to discover Nickell’s role in helping Monroe’s former girlfriend and their children escape abuse and the criminal lifestyle. It is encouraging to read how successful that escape was.
“Repeat Offender” provides a revelation of how the U.S. court system has turned from serving the victims of crime to serving criminals. With defense attorneys “shoveling smoke” and performing circus acts to confuse juries and win cases, with no regard for the guilt or innocence of their clients, and with convicted felons permitted to clog the system with frivolous lawsuits—drastic changes are a requisite for making the justice system just.
Nickell’s Christian faith shines through “Repeat Offender” like a quiet, guiding light—never preaching, never judging—loving Daimon Monroe and his family in spite of the gulf between criminal and cop.

A great true life story of a dedicated ROP officer bringing to justice one of the most prolific criminals in Vegas or anywhere else I would think. The arrogance of the criminal and the tenacity of Bradley Nickell to bring him to justice despite the threats and mountain of evidence to rifle through would have made a lesser man back down. Maybe give up. Not Nickell. Everything done by the book and a criminal who thought he was above the law is behind bars. A really must read. This guy has a story worth telling.
Fascinating insight, that explores habitual criminality and the tough task of trying to control it!2015年5月14日に英国でレビュー済み
OK some of the content I found really disturbing. However I am so grateful to have read this because it opened my eyes to the selfish, self serving, perverse decision making & actions of people with serious criminal intent. The book illustrates the terrible impact on the victims and the hard fought battle of law enforcement / judiciary to combat such criminality. Part of the money raised from book sales is going to support victims of sexual crimes. That is another great reason to buy IMHO.
