I had sought this album on vinyl for some months as it is regarded as a masterpiece of recording, production and mastering and the music is much more involved than one would imagine, with massive bass and sweeping, swirling, enveloping sounds that make listening a real experience.
In 12 inch vinyl the gatefold cover is an artistic masterpiece, beautifully presented and the discs are heavyweight, warp free and are are as good as it gets in terms of the pressing quality and sound. I play it through a Roksan Xerxes/Pug/Shiraz or Rega Planar 3, RB330/Elys 2 front end and it sounds superb on either.
I have read so many reviews about this record and not quite sure as to why it took me so long to get my hands on a copy on vinyl.
Just spinning the double LP for the first time while writing this and my oh my it does sound as amazing as the reviews say.
This is one of those where you just crank up that volume, kick back and enjoy - apologies to my neighbour in advance only for the last track that is a little more full on than the rest 😉
I have to be honest and say Im a rocker to all intents and purposes but I am also a musician and music fan. I can appreciate and respect many different forms of music or in otherwords credit where credit is due. Daft Punk were never on my radar but when I heard the track Get Lucky my interest was woken. When I later heard that reknowned and excellent musicians like Omar Hakim, John Robinson (as well as Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams who I already knew about) were involved I figured I had to give this CD a try and I am pleasantly surprised at how listenable it is. High on production values yes but also strong songwriting and great musicianship make this a sound buy.

This album is considered to be "the best sounding album of 21st century" according some online media I came across months ago. I do not know if that claim is true, but indeed the album sounds amazing. And not only when played on a good hi-fi system (which is kinda expected after this statement), but even when you play it on a small system, or even when you stream it from spotify, for example. The sound somehow is always big ans spacious and all the instruments sound really clear and on "their place". I think Daft Punk said that they've spend more than a million to make this album and in therms of mastering, production and sound presentation it is really-really impressive. And if it happens that apart of your audiophile interest you're also fan of their music by purchasing this album you should be very pleased. Can't go wrong :-)

This double album is great value. Not a lot more expensive than most single LPs. Widely regarded by Audiophiles as being one of the best recordings so far this century. I haven't heard a huge amount of 21st century releases but it is entirely believable. It is obvious that a great deal of care has been taken at the mixing and mastering stage. The dynamic range is wide by modern standards. I don't think the master recording went through a compressor and limiter three times in this case.
The music is a bit of a journey through the decades. It isn't the type of music to satisfy the deep thinking chin-stroking fraternity. This is just very good, well-recorded music to satisfy a wide audience. An audience who just enjoys uplifting music. Sure there are a few time-wasting moments but as this is a double album at a near single album price I am not complaining.
Pressing quality is very high, although my records had picked up quite a static charge somehow. At first they didn't want to come out of the inner sleeves, such was the vacuum. When eventually they began moving from their sleeves I could hear the sparks of static electricity. On to the turntable they went and I have never seen dust home in on records quite like it. Anyway they are clean now and static can easily be discharged.
I'm totally happy. This is one of my best record purchases ever.
