一方アルバム『Deodato 2』にもThe Moody Blues作の楽曲『Nights In White Satin:サテンの夜』やGeorge Gershwin作の楽曲『Rhapsody in Blue』等有名曲が挿入されていて聴き所は多いと思います。

2017 Remastered from original master tapes and probably the only best sounding re-mastered tunes ever heard so far! I have been familiar with Deodato's Prelude and Deodato2 originally mastered for CDs on CTI label before it was taken over by Sony! Then a series of reissues re-mastered by different folks on Sony, its sub-labels, Japanese labels...etc, it seemed like sound quality either got worse or got lost until I found this 2017 released by Vocalion CDSML 8532 and finally found happiness with it! Michael J. Dutton is one of the world renowned audio mastering engineer and he certainly did an outstanding, excellent re-mastering job on this SACD/CD reissue! Unlike previously mastered, re-mastered CDs which always sounded congested, this SACD/CD sounded far better with sound stage open up, laid back, great stereo imaging, lower, better bass quality, clean mid range and a little airy upper high frequencies! However, output volume is a bit lower than expected on CD layer and of course volume knob can be turned up a few dB! CD layer ripped, re-mastered and tunes sounded better now! Problems solved! I would definitely and highly recommend this 2017 reissue! A must have for critical audiophiles!

This CD is actually two discs in one, making it a great deal. Beyond that, it is finally the best sounding CD on the market for this amazing musician. Those of you who lived during the rise of the CTI record label should recall both of these discs. You can read about the vast legacy of the CTI label, and the amazing line up of musicians on both of these discs.
Never sounded better. Deodato is one funky keyboard player, taking the 1970's electric piano into the realm of the best lead instruments. With this 2017 release, these tunes now have noticeable smoothness to the back up orchestra, deeper bass lines, razor sharp guitar, and the beast, Billy Cobham, on drums. You can quickly see what was missing from the original LP versions, and all the various CD's of these discs on the market up until now. This version sounds spectacular.
Back in the 70's, producers always split the sound, hard left speaker or right, with limited instrumentation in the center. This cannot correct for that. But the greater clarity of all instruments makes this the disc to own for Deodato's first two albums on CTI.
The most incredible part of this disc is that it incorporates totally remastered stereo from the original analog tapes, an SACD layer, and the quadraphonic mixes as well. I haven't checked out the quad, but all other versions are spectacular. Hats off to Dutton Vocalion for this version, a UK label that ships remarkably fast. Totally detailed booklet is included.
I bought Deodato 2 in the mid seventies and enjoyed it, but it was something of an oddity to me and quickly gave way to my main interests of classical, jazz, and MOR standards. Not sure what got me to thinking again about his music, but I got to looking at Amazon for some of his stuff to see what was available. I came upon this double album and picked it up not really taking notice that this was originally a “quadraphonic” recording. I have a SACD system setup now and these old “quad” recordings really shine. My 5.1 system shows the individual instruments coming from different speakers and it is awesome! So nearly 50 years later I finally get what the all the fuss was about. Spectacular!
