I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this story. Polaris Uprising is a story when people have given up many freedoms to allow the government to keep them safe. It raises the question of how much freedom costs and can we allow government to take it away from us. The main characters are sisters Alanna and Ryla who have been groomed from an early age to be in the public eye especially since Ryla is meant to take over her dad's reign. The relationship between the two sisters is a highlight and establishes a emotional connection to the story. Every character is relevant and add their particular philosophy on the way the society is run and creates a very interesting discussion. Definitely recommend for a fun and interesting read.

It took a few tries to get started, but once I did I couldn't put this book down.
Ryla is so impulsive, but a good rebellion leader usually is.
I wonder how long Alanna will hold on to her true self as the leader, will the government let her see how corrupt and oppressive the are?

It was really engaging from start to finish, with
Memorable characters that I'm still thinking about days later, and a plot and setting that are a great balance between original but not TOO far out there!
It's a really great YA read and I'm really looking forward to book 2!!

Perfect for young adults and also young at heart adults who enjoy fantasy/sci-fi combined with engaging characters. Reminds me of a cross between Wicked and The Hunger Games. A really fun read---can't wait for the next book in the series!
