Firstly, I would like to thank the Pokémon Company (and everyone else involved) for making such an outstanding Pokédex. This is the best Pokédex available in print form that you will find and great value for money. It fulfills everything it promised, is very comprehensive and has an amazing amount of information for almost every Pokémon, including movesets, item and TM/HM locations, detailed explanations of moves and abilities, as well as an assortment of other information that is welcome to any Pokémon fan. The layout and artwork are also beautiful.
But I do have some minor issues with the book, as it feels a little incomplete or lacking in the following aspects:
* Breeding - there is no mention how the Breeding mechanics in this game work, such as how moves are passed onto baby Pokémon or how long Eggs take to hatch. It only mentions which Egg groups a Pokémon belongs to.
* Shiny Pokémon - even though the Pokédex provides some brilliant artwork with the Pokédex entries, it would have been nice to see what the Shiny versions of each Pokémon looked like without having to browse online.
* Contests - taking into account that Heonn was the first game to incorporate this new mechanic and how it showcased that Pokémon could be enjoyed for more than battling, I find it a little underwhelming that for a Pokédex with an extensive guide on moves and abilities, they make no mention how or what moves do in Contests. A little section also explaining Contests in general would have also been nice, especially since the post-game content is somewhat limited.
* EVs (and IVs) - the Pokédex vaguely mentions which wild Pokémon give you what EVs, but this list is incomplete and could have been added to the Pokédex entries of each Pokémon instead. Maybe they could have also given a brief explanation of what EVs do, for those wishing to play or improve battling competitively.
* Base Stats - the Base Stats are shown as bars not numbers, which makes it harder to analyse and compare what Pokémon are good at.
* Cover - as it does not come in a hard cover format, it is easily damaged and you must be extra careful when it comes to handling the Pokédex.
But brushing these minor cons aside, this is an EXCELLENT Pokédex to the generation 6 Pokémon games of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby and worth every penny spent! I highly recommend it to all Pokémon fans and it makes for an incredible present!
