Very informative, easily read, and beautifully illustrated. Essential reading if you are interested on ancient stones and their origins, whilst illustrations are local to pembrokeshire, text is relevant worldwide.
… of the standings stones in Pembrokeshire, in their settings. The artist author also writes with affection and knowledge about each stone.
I do have a major issue with this book. Most of these beautiful paintings (42 of the 53) are split across 1-1/2 pages -- a good way to ruin the painting! -- it's hard to view and to enjoy artwork that spills across the book's spine onto the opposite page.
And in many cases, the image of the standing stone itself --- the very subject of the painting! --- is divided by the book's spine. I can't imagine what the publisher was thinking, to ruin the images in this way.
Nevertheless, it's a lovely book and I'd recommend it to anyone who is charmed by the standing stones.
