役に立った

ヒリヒリするような緊迫感あふれるハードコアから，哀愁のメロウ・チューンまで―聴きどころ満載

　「キング・オブ・サウス」，「南部のジェイ・Z」などの異名を持つアトランタ―のラッパー／プロデューサーが2008年にリリースした傑作。
　アルバムは，ヒリヒリするような緊迫感あふれる「56Bars」で幕を開けます。シリアスで哀感帯びたスロー・ジャム「Ready For Whatever」の実にカッコいいこと！　でも，アルバムはまだ序盤です。
リュダクリスが参加した「On Top Of The World」は，狂騒するシンセに扇動的なラップでグイグイと押すファンク。リアーナを起用し「恋のマイアヒ」をサンプリングした「Live Your Life」は大ヒットしました。アッシャーが参加する「My Life Your Entertainment」は，高揚感のあるシンセ・サウンドがパワーを与えてくれます。「Swing Ya Rag」は骨太で男気あふれるバンガー。とにかく聴きどころは多いですが，まだまだアルバムは続きます。
　そして，終盤。ここがアルバムのハイライトと言っても過言ではないでしょう。バンギンで，サビのセンセーショナルな展開に痺れる「What Up, What’s Haapnin’」，ハードボイルド映画のBGMのようにスリリングでドラマティックなサウンドの「Every Chance I Get」，哀愁のメロウ・チューン（まるでワム！の「ケアレス・ウィスパー」みたい）をバックにニヒルにラップする「You Ain’t Missin’ Nothing」，美しくも哀しいピアノや，ティンバーレイクが物悲しく歌い上げるサビも印象的な「Dead And Gone」，甘美で夢見心地なサウンドに乗って天空を舞う「Collect Call」など，秀作が怒涛のごとく押し寄せます。
　最近は，本業よりも警察のご厄介になるニュースの方が目立ってしまっているのは実に残念ですが，このアルバムは完成度も高く実に素晴らしい作品なので，ぜひご一聴を。

You will only find three hip hop CDs in my wallet of +400 albums; two of the three albums are Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Tupac Shakur.

The other is T.I., whose chart topping hits are impossible to ignore. His ability to corraborate with so many well known artists and put out such an outstanding album displays his skill, influence, and style in his latest album "Paper Trail".

Especially moving is the fact that he dedicates one of his songs to Soldiers in Iraq, of which I am one of them. We have this album playing constantly while driving around in our NTVs (non-tactical vehicles). I am not the only one who feels particularly moved by the fact that he throws a shout out to us.

I don't love every song on this album, however, the songs on here I do love carry this album's weight. I give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5, specifically for "Live Your Life", "Whatever You Like", and "My Life Your Entertainment".

I bought Paper Trail because I loved the first two singles released (Whatever You Like and Live Your Life). I had no idea until I got the CD how many INCREDIBLE collaborations were on this album (Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake AND John Legend -- among others -- just incredible). It's obvious from listening to the lyrics that TI spent his time wisely reflecting on his life, and the consequences of his actions that resulted in his house arrest. While he offered no excuses, and he admitted his wrongs, as you listen to his passionate recap of the circumstances of his life and the events that led up to his arrest ... it's not hard to understand where he's coming from and why he may have made some of the choices he did - wrong as they may have been. All that self reflection and social consciousness laid out over some of the hottest BEATS I'VE HEARD IN YEARS!! I LOVE THIS ALBUM! I say it's a MUST BUY!

Good cd! TI worked hard on this album.
There's some ok tracks that have a lot of bragging tough/rich/cool guy lyrics like "On Top of the World", "My Life Your Entertainment w/ Usher", "What Up, What's Haapnin"
But then he pulls out some awesome tracks like with great beats & lyrics on "Live Your Life w/ Rihanna", "Whatever You Like", "No Matter What", & "Dead & Gone w/ Justin Timberlake"

However I have to skip "Swagga Like Us" feat. Jay Z., Kanye West, & Lil Wayne every time it comes. I like all these guys & they could've made a much better track, but the Sample they took of the girl sayin "Swagga Like Us" & played it over & over until the annoying repetition drives you nuts!!

Other than that song, excellent cd!!
