First of all, I wanted to say that I've waited this second book of THE ITALIAN SAGA so ardently because of my enduring love for the first one AN ITALIAN ADVENTURE that captured my heart so completely. I love the way the author writes her characters, and in this book 2 of the series the protagonist, Leda, is facing new experiences and challenges as long as she meets new friends and new crushes... but I can't really say anything about the story without give it away so you really have to read the book. I see book 2 also as a sort of bridge that is going to connect book1 to book 3 because there are elements of progression in the story but also there are facts that we will understand better in book 3 of the series, eventually I hope, and the author is a Master in building anticipation, new and constant interest for the old and new characters and perspective for the new events to come in the next book.
So I loved this book completely too, but I don't give the fifth star in this review only for the fact that we still don't have a clue at the end of the story about what is going to happen to Leda and her 'friends' in book 3 and I can't wait to read the new one, and maybe this is exactly what the author wants.

Gaia B Amman was born and raised in Italy. She moved to the United States in her twenties to pursue her Ph.D. in molecular biology. She's currently a Professor of biology at D'Youville College in Buffalo, New York, where she was voted "the professor of the month" by her students. Her research and commentaries have been published in prestigious peer-reviewed international journals including Nature. A bookworm from birth, she wrote throughout her childhood and won two short story competitions in Italy in her teens. Gaia is an avid traveler and many of her adventures are an inspiration for her fiction. Mostly she is passionate about people and the struggles they face to embrace life. Her highest hope is to reach and help as many as she can through her writing as well as her teaching. She authored the Italian Saga, an irreverent series of humorous and insightful young adult novels taking place against the gorgeous backdrop of Northern Italy. The books, light-hearted and funny at first sight, deal with issues like sexuality, divorce, friendship, abuse, first love, and self-discovery. Among her favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, Jandy Nelson, Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Antoine de Saint Exupèry. --このテキストは、paperback版に関連付けられています。
"I love Leda. Finally a kickass female heroine! She's like some sort of modern girl-version of a classic Tom Sawyer." (Claudia, Goodreads review) "Great characters, a well written storyline, and a beautiful setting...this book will appeal to all ages." (Amy Joslyn, librarian) "A charming and thoughtful read! I loved how the detailed descriptions really put you there." (C. Cedano, Amazon reviews) "This is a wonderfully written book and real hook. You're literally in the mind of Leda, with all the fears, doubts, wants, likes and dislikes of a girl growing up in Italy. If you would have told me that I'd be drawn into the life of a twelve year old girl I would have told you, 'you're nuts'. I would HIGHLY recommend this book for any man with daughters for no better reason than you'll learn what goes on in the mind of a 12 year old girl. Quite honestly, it blew me away. It's like Suzuki without the violins." (Mike, Amazon reviews) --このテキストは、paperback版に関連付けられています。

Very well built and written. An interesting journey into the Northern Italy of a few decades ago seen with the eye of a pre-teen. The author plays with steretypes, which are often not confirmed. Surprisingly well organized.
I'm loving this series!2020年4月26日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済み
I am loving this series of books on the rites of passage of a smart, awkward girl. The English translation isn't perfect, but I find the mistakes endearing, like an Italian friend is telling me the story. I just finished book 2, and I'm ready to download the next one!
