T303UA-DH54T I5-6200 8GB 512GB
--Keyboard is slightly better (however I still don't see any for sale separately). Trackpad alignment within opening on keyboard could be better (small gap on right-side)
-Keyboard has keys for screen brightness +/- and keyboard backlight brightness +/-
-USB C port so you can use any charger instead of the proprietary MS charger and connector (edit: no success with 3rd party chargers or other QuickCharge3 USB C chargers yet, even ones guaranteed to work with MacBook Pros)
-Nicer screen, better colours, although not as bright
-Harman/Kardon audio seems a bit louder/clearer than Surface
-Volume buttons moved to left edge of tablet away from power button
-Value- for about $200 more, I have upgraded from a 4Gb/128gb i5 SP4 to a 8gb/512gb Transformer book
-Performance- much snappier than the comparable (price-wise) Surface Pro machine
-Was able to continue using my MoKo leather case made for an SP4 despite the slightly larger dimensions
-Slighter larger bezels. For the 0.3" gain in screen real-estate, the overall tablet is proportionally even larger
-Location of microSD moved to left side of screen. It slightly sticks out in order to allow room to push to eject. I often mistakenly eject the SD card when trying to adjust the volume. I thought the location on the Surface Pro 4 is much more discreet
-So far, Windows Hello is having a heck of a time trying to recognize me. Improving recognition and re-installing IR camera drivers helped a tiny bit. But compared to the millisecond recognition of the MS4, there is definitely something wrong here.
-Magnetic connection to Keyboard is weaker than the SP4. Even lifting the tablet with the keyboard dangling is enough to detach it.
-I've read the beautiful finish scuffs easily - yet to confirm although I'm trying my best to delay finding out about this - (update- no issues with the surface finish to date about 3 weeks into ownership)
-Pen doesn't have a eraser like the MS pen. You press a second button and use the pen tip to erase.
-Fan is a little bit loud but it is not on as constantly as older reviews indicate
(Update 12Jan2017 - Fan is now is making a very loud and annoying noise, as if the blades are contacting the chassis when held in certain angles. I've sent off the unit under RMA to ASUS. Let's see how long this takes. In hindsight, I wish I just stayed with the mature SP4)
-512gb SSD is made by Hynix and is SATA not NVMe. There's conflicting information out there on the specs that you get.
-No magnets along either side for attaching pen
-Battery life is quite poor - 4 hrs max doing light surfing. I don't understand how it could be so different from the SP4 considering the basic hardware set is equivalent (CPU/battery capacity etc) - hopefully it can be addressed via firmware at a later date
(Update Feb 9 2017) - Repaired unit makes same noise, actually louder, or cannot start spinning at all. Back with Asus for 10 days now under a new RMA. Requested a replacement but no resolution on that request. Lesson learned Asus.
