エヌワイエックス メガシャインアップグロス LG129 11ml
At my age, I don't like to wear much color anymore and I'm not fond of wet-looking lips, so that knocked off a star right away. It didn't taste bad, but it was sticky and that knocked off another star. The real tale is the fact my daughter didn't like it (she's in her 20's) and neither of us would buy this again.
Nyx 126 Plush Red
I'd purchased a set of Nyx lip pencils that also had Plush Red in it, so thought I'd try the matching gloss. It is a nice smooth gloss, not gloppy, and provides both shine and sparkle (but is not garishly sparkly). When worn alone over my well-pigmented lips, I get a beautiful color between a medium pink and a wine...definitely not red. This is puzzling, since the tube is SUPER true red...maybe the tube is colored? Over red lip pencil (I have Nyx lip pencils in Plush Red, Hot Red and Deep Red), it reads just close enough to red to give the illusion of red, but it's definitely not the color of the tube. When I wiped the gloss off my lips with a white napkin, the color was sort of berry/fuschia.
Nyx 129 Beige
Beige?!?! I can't imagine why Nyx would call this lip gloss Beige. It is most definitely pink. For those familiar with Nyx lip pencils, it reminds me of the Sand Pink lip pencil--light but bright. When used alone, it over-lightens my lips for my taste, though I suppose it could appear neutral on a person with lighter lips (mine are sort of berry-colored). The texture of the gloss is very similar to the Plush Red--smooth, not gloppy, and provides both shine and sparkle (but is not garishly sparkly. When wiped on a napkin, the color was pale pink.
Nyx 110 Cosmo
If you're a fan of sparkle, you'll probably like this. It is a bit much for me. Unlike the other two glosses reviewed above which had a high shine but not overly sparkly, this one is mega sparkly. When worn alone, Cosmo was on the edge of over-lightening my lips like Beige did. It comes off on my lips as light pink. When used over lipstick or pencil it is "out there" with the sparkle and light enough to change the color of deeper pink shades of pencil/lipstick. It is a bit gloppier than the other two shades above, but not awful at all. When wiped off with a white napkin, the gloss color was very similar to the Beige gloss, even though the two glosses look NOTHING alike in the tube.
All 3 shades have a wonderful fruity fragrance that is not bothersome at all to this fragrance-sensitive lady. It's reminiscent of Koolaid or kids' candies and I actually quite enjoy it!
I'm not the biggest fan of the applicator in these glosses. The tip of the wand is angled and, the first time I used one, I thought "Brilliant!" But as time went on, I was less impressed. For one, the tube allows WAY too much gloss onto the wand. In the case of the super sparkly Cosmo or the super pigmented Plush Red, this can be a real problem. Plush Red is hard to put on because of it.
I would buy more Nyx glosses, but I probably won't buy anymore online (i.e., sight unseen) unless it is to buy a replacement for a color I already know I like.
Just an FYI: when you buy the NYX lip products from Amazon, they do NOT come with the protective plastic shrink wrap that you usually see on these products in brick and mortar stores. I was concerned and contacted NYX about that and was told some of the larger distributors requested they leave that off the products and it was normal.
