Linda Ronstadt was America's sweetheart of the '70s, because she was able to combine a pretty face, a pretty voice and a safe personality. Her songs might be full of big notes and high emotions, but they satisfied every predictable expectation of a love ballad or good-time rocker. Mariah Carey is America's sweetheart of the '90s for the exact same reasons. Music Box topped the Billboard album charts, yielding number-one singles like "Dreamlover" and "Hero." The titles, one a hollow Minnie Riperton knock-off and the other a stiff Barbra Streisand imitation, are tip-offs to Carey's reliance on untethered fantasy (she's the fantasizer in the lyrics and the fantasy object in the videos). These songs, coｪwritten and co-produced like most of the album by Walter Anasieff and Carey herself, are constructed to show off her dizzying soprano, not to provide an original approach to a well-worn subject. Even when she gets a strong ballad to sing, like her current singles--Babyface's "Never Forget You" or Badfinger/Nilsson's "Without You"--she overdoes the self-pity bit so much that the song loses its dramatic tension. --Geoffrey Himes

CD本身应该是烂大街的再版系列。
如果不是因为亚马逊有特典，大概不会购买再版版本。
早期的版本大概是很难收到全新的了，因此收个带特典的再版也不错。
东西到手很完美。

フィギュアスケートの三原舞依選手が、エキシビションで使っていたこの曲の入ったCDが欲しくなり、このアルバムを購入しました。　1曲目"ドリーム・ラヴァー”や、アルバムタイトルにもなっている"ミュージック・ボックス”、そして、ニルソンでヒットした懐かしい曲"ウィズオウト・ユー”など、バラードやダンス＆ソウルミュージックなど，曲数は11曲と少な目だけど、聴きごたえのあるアルバムで、買って良かったです。　CDが届いてから、何回か曲順通りに聴いていたけど、今はランダム再生で楽しんでいます。

"Music Box" ist das 3. Studioalbum von US- Sängerin Mariah Carey, welches im Jahr 1993 das Licht der Welt erblickte und es gilt auch als das erfolgreichste Album von Mariah Carey überhaupt. Kein Wunder also, denn die Singelauskopplungen aus dem Album wurden alles große Hits weltweit für die Sängerin Mariah Carey. Vorallem die Single "Without you" wurde ein sehr großer Hit in Europa und landete in Deutschland auf Platz 1 und war Monatelang in den Charts zu finden.

Jetzt bewerte ich "Music Box" von Mariah Carey:

Für mich ist "Music Box" ein gelungenes Album , aber es zählt für mich nicht zu den besten Album von ihr, da gefallen mir andere Alben von Mariah Carey deutlich besser als "Music Box". Dennoch ist es ein tolles Album was sie 1993 veröffentlicht hat.
Das Booklet beinhaltet die Songtexte, Bilder und eine Danksagung von Mariah Carey.
Klare Kaufempfehlung wer die Musik von ihr gerne mag!

Not Her worst or best release.

This CD encases what an R&B artist who is in love with ballads would and should release.

Well, to be honest there are more mid-tempos and up-tempos than the ballads. But the ballads make up almost half of the CD.

What I really don't understand (and don't want to) is that people say that this disc just mimics Whitney Houston! Ha.

First off, Whitney doesn't write ANY of her songs. And that stinks. And none of these songs sounds like a Whitney number. What do you think?

Anyway, my favorite track is track #1, Dreamlover. It also happens to be her best song ever. Very fun with a pinch of meaning to it. It showcases Mariah in her upbeat glory.

But then the album goes into inspirational numbers (Hero, Anytime You Need A Friend) one pointless and throwaway dance number (I've Been Thinking About You) and one good one (Now That I Know) and of course the ballads (Hero, Never Forget You, Without You, which is the second best track here, Just To Hold You Once Again, All I've Ever Wanted).

This disc is solid, just not her best.

My aunt actually gave it to me cause she said she doesn't listen to "this" Mariah anymore. Her loss! These songs save for two are excellent and painfully listenable (that's good folks).

There isn't much more to say.

However, now I'm going to chronologically order her best albums and go into the worst:

By the time Mariah Carey released her fourth album, "Music Box", she had learned the rules of the music industry and was at the top of her game. She knew exactly what her listeners wanted to hear and she gave it to us too! This could explain why the album had four singles which were released.
"Music Box" is an album which is almost full of ballads. If you are looking for Mariah to belt out fast tunes, you should not be thinking of buying "Music Box" because it's mostly slow songs. The best fast-tempoed song on the album is "Dream Lover". This song has a catchy chorus and a nice beat. This was the album's first single and was an immediate chart topper for the only female singer who has sold 100 million records. "Hero" is an inspirational song about finding the hero within yourself. Mariah showcases that amazing seven octave range she has in this song. This song also went on to be a huge success on the charts. "Never Forget You" is my favorite song on the album. This song was written and produced by Babyface. The song is about someone losing someone but hopes to see them again.
After listening to "Music Box", one will see that it is evident that Mariah has been called the best singer of her time by critics and fans. If you want one Mariah Carey CD, this should be the one. After you listen to this CD, you will yearn for more...ENCORE!

I remember obsessively listening to this album when I was in seventh and eighth grade--usually while pining for my crush-of-the-moment. Recently, I started thinking about that time in my life, for some reason. I hadn't listened to the CD (or anything by Mariah Carey, truthfully) in years, but I wondered how it held up.

The short answer....not great. There was still that pretty amazing voice, but I was somewhat surprised to realize that the music is actually really boring. It definitely falls into the easy-listening category. What else was I expecting? I don't know. But I suppose this album was never going to live up to the memory I created in my hyper-emotional twelve-year old mind.

Regardless, this is still one of those foundational CDs of the 90s. And even if it didn't age as well as I thought it was going to, I'm still giving this bad boy four stars. Thanks for the memories, Mariah.
