Update: Many other reviews are saying the pens are fake but if you check the MUJI site for Japan both are available there. The US site for MUJI only has model 454 available.
**Update** Talked to Amazon Customer Service and they refunded without requiring return (When I tried to return the pens I got 'Item not Eligible for return). So I'm not sure whether Amazon covered it or the vendor. I'll move review to 2 stars.
This review was originally just the above, but I hadn't used all of my pens.
I am super sad to update this review to note that only 2 of the pens I received were in proper working order. The other 3 are somehow broken or poorly assembled so that when you lift the pen off of the paper or bring it down to touch the paper, it adds an erroneous mark. Basically, it reminds me of when my grandmother was in her 80s and unable to write well. It looks like someone wrote it who has very poor hand control. So, now I'm super bummed and wish they all were solidly made and wrote well. Plus, I can't seem to contact the company to let them know and see if they would replace the broken pens or not.
Cons: I've been working through the shipment over the course of a couple of months and some of the pens (2-3) have been slightly faulty. The shaft has become dislodged towards the bottom of the pen so it becomes very difficult to write because the tip will slide back into the rest of the pen when you push down on it, and then back out when you remove pressure. Basically, it won't stay still like a functioning pen should. For the price you're paying for these pens, to have a third of them fail is a bit frustrating, but maybe I got a bad batch
What makes this pen a fake:
-The clip on the cap is connected near the end rather than disconnected
-The pen is thicker than it should be
-The ink in the pen is not as dark and smooth
-The pen near the nib is elongated
-The price tag does not match the color of a legitimate Muji pen, and the barcode on it is cut poorly
Do not buy from this seller! They seem to no longer sell legitimate Muji pens, and funding them will only encourage them to continue scamming people.
