Edward G. Robinson starred on Broadway with Gena Rowlands in this May-December romance. He is an over-50 dress manufacturer and she a 20-ish young bride. When they meet and begin an affair, their love creates a dynamic fissure among the respective families as the 'real world' looks on in disapproval. --このテキストは、ペーパーバック版に関連付けられています。

This book reminded me of my great uncle and aunt. She told me that she had a difficult deal with her family because of the age difference as she was with him. Anyway they got married and they lived long enough.
Because this is all about what the man needs, not about what the young girl needs, or what is good for her.
I also thought that the scene where the daughter asks him about his sex life was strange. No daughter would want to talk to her Dad about that.
I suppose this was the author's fantasy of how it's really okay, it's even doing something to help a young beautiful girl, if you have an affair with her etc....yada yada....It's not about the difference in age, it's about his being her boss, and the inequality of power.
Why not choose someone else????? Those were not good times for women in the workplace, or anywhere else I guess......
