The MICHELIN Guide France 2019 is the go-to source for a great trip with its recommendations to some 4,300 restaurants and 2,800 hotels and accommodations. This annually updated guide, encompassing a variety of establishments, covers all tastes and budgets. Experienced, anonymous inspectors carefully select restaurants, utilizing the celebrated Michelin food star-rating system. A reference section shows how to navigate the guide and understand its descriptive symbols. Travelers can feel confident relying on Michelin since only the best make the cut.
I think the new edition is more attractive and easier to follow. I like that the new additions are indicated with a nice bright letter 'n' and there are fewer subsections. In Gordes, for example, the Auberge de Carcarille used to be in a subsection under Gordes called "rte d'Apt". This year it is listed with all the hotels of Gordes so that you can see the ranking in relation to all the hotels of the area. This is a big improvement. My editions are in French but I think there are English editions available. It is fairly easy to locate the restaurants with stars and the "bib gourmand" which used to be great bargains but now they are for menus that are 33 euros in Province and 37 euros in Paris (or less, as they often are at lunch time).
we went to 3 different ‘one star’ that should have never got one. Bad job new team in charge.
It appears that the editors have chosen to expand descriptions of restaurants, especially those awarded 2 or 3 stars
