Judy Jacka has been practising as a natural therapist in Melbourne since 1971, and has worked with over 20 000 clients. She began her career in the healing area as a trained nurse before qualifying as a natural therapist, and later undertook a postgraduate diploma in Human Relations Education. Since 1972 she has been principal, and then chairperson, of the Southern School of Natural Therapies, and has been involved with a number of submissions on natural therapies to the government. She is well known as a lecturer both to the general public and to professional groups.
