全世界で1,000万枚超のセールスを記録した 大ヒットアルバム『MIMI』に続く待望のニューアルバム。新たな黄金時代突き進むマライア・キャリーの9作目のオリジナルアルバム。
Product Description
Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MCイ. The 11th studio album of her career, E=MCイ is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah's worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts. The first single from E=MCイ is "Touch My Body," written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream, and blasting out worldwide on February 12th. The video for "Touch My Body" was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MCイ will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser.. E=MCイ is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan's biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

Not broken
Very good
4. I Stay In Love、13. Bye Byeはもうたまんないし、
他の方のレビューにはあまり見かけませんが、
9. Last Kiss

The album opens with an instant classic, `Migrate', a brilliantly constructed Hip-Hop track that pairs Mariah up with rising star T-Pain. The feel of the track is ultimate club-savvy and the lyrics only accentuate Mariah's golden sensuality. T-Pain's verse is far from skimped here. What irritates me about a lot of collabos lately is that the rappers brought in to spice up the track bring nothing special to their game. That is far from the case on `Migrate' where T-Pain brings his A-Game and then some. Mariah has a few other guest stars here as well. Young Jeezy brings heat to `Side Effects', a Hip-Hop laced track that captures Mariah's ability to mold herself into anything. She effortlessly slides right into the music of today and brings her all to it. I was floored with `Cruise Control' which teams Mariah up with Damian Marley. Like her collabo with Twista on `Mimi', Mariah easily falls right into reggae mode and keeps the pace with Marley beautifully. You would never guess that this was not her niche. `Cruise Control' proves to be one of the biggest highlights on the album.
Judging from the frisky single `Touch My Body', it's apparent that Carey is going to have her fair share of Pop heavy tracks. `Touch My Body' is a phenomenal example of what a killer voice and a catchy beat can do. It's playful and memorable and just what the doctor ordered. Her breathy delivery only adds weight to the tracks brilliance. Following in that vein we are given the bouncy `I'm that Chick' and the even bouncier `O.O.C.'. Both tracks are fun and fresh and catchy beyond words. Then there's the infectious `I'll be Lovin' U Long Time', one of the best tracks on the album. It's such classic Mariah, like something off of `Daydream' or `Butterfly'; bouncy, fresh, catchy and high spirited. `Last Kiss' carries that same vibe and sounds like earlier Carey.
And then of course there have to be the ballads.
`I Stay in Love' is the first of many, and it sets the precedent for the tracks to follow. It's tender and Mariah sounds impeccable as usual. `Love Song' and `Thanx 4 Nothin' serve as two of the best tracks on the album. `Love Song' finds Mariah singing her heart out (and what a voice) about her version of a love story and how she sees this love working itself out. `Thanx 4 Nothin' is a much different brand of ballad, where Mariah bellows about love gone wrong. The song is a classic abusive relationship track that Carey approaches with maturity and class. `For the Record' is brilliant; capturing the past successes of Mariah and combining them in one smash ballad.
The album closes with two uplifting ballads that are signatures of Mariah at this point. `Bye Bye', her latest single, is a beautiful song that reminds me a bit of `Butterfly' in its structure; it goes right for the heartstrings. She's obviously singing this to her father, but as she's said in interview; this song is for anyone who has every lost anyone, which is everyone. The closing track `I Wish You Well' is a beautiful track that can stand on its own here. It's not her finest ballad but it is strong and simple and allows Mariah's voice to shine on its own.
In the end, `E=MC2' is a near perfect album that immortalizes the `diva' that is Mariah Carey. Like on other reviewer already mentioned; Mariah Carey is the one singer of this generation that will be remembered for generations to come. Our children and our children's children will all know and come to love the phenomenally gifted creature known as Mariah Carey.
It didn't prepare for what the cd as a whole had to offer which is far more than i anticipated this time around. From a kiss off track that shows exactly what kind of vocals she possesses "I Wish You Well" to a track about missing our loved ones that have passed on her new single off the album "Bye Bye". Also another that i enjoyed is the first song on the cd "Migrate" with T-Pain. You wouldn't think that it quite work out but somehow it all melds together with a fierce beat that won't let go of you and the vocoder effects that has T-Pain much success. Another one "Cruise Control" with Damian Marley. It has a slick reggae beat to it but it also has a upbeat style of flow to it both on her vocals and Damian's as well. It makes you feel like your on a beach on a far off island just relaxing.
"Thanx 4 Nothin" is exactly what it states Mariah's letting a guy know that she doesn't appreciate his tired, lame ways towards her. "I'll Be Lovin U Long Time" and "Last Kiss" show MC doing her thing and exactly why she has such steady and long lasting success and the vocals are never better. She also writes on every song on E=MC2 and has some help from Nate "Danja" Hills, T-Pain, Bryan Cox, S. Shropshire, Scott Storch, Jermaine Dupri, Terius "The Dream" Nash, S. Eriksen and T. E. Hermansen among others. It's a who's who list of producers and writers but she's still able to fly on her own throughout the release with only 3 guest stars (Migrate feat T-Pain, Cruise Control feat Damian Marley and Side Effects feat Young Jeezy).
Tracks of note (that should be future singles)
Migrate Feat. T-Pain
I Stay In Love
Side Effects Feat. Young Jeezy
Love Story
I'll Be Loving U Long Time
Last Kiss
Thanx 4 Nothin
For The Record
Bye Bye (already the 2nd single from the album)
I Wish You Well
i really enjoyed Emancipation of Mimi, but dare i say it. I'm enjoying E=MC2 that much more and its going to be another smash album for Mariah and her fans are feeling it as well and even if your not a fan of MC. Give this one a try and a few listens i think that it just might change your mind. One of the better cd releases of 2008 so far.
However, despite these flaws you should be able to discern that this is another good Mariah album, although overall not as good as her top 1990's work like Daydream, Butterfly and Emotions.
First, production is deft and songs are overall better than on Emancipation, where We Belonged Together was by far the best track. It must be said though that the formula of this song was present in her next number one Don't Forget About Us and is heard on E=MC2 a little bit too often.
The album lacks the retro-vibe of "Emancipation"; overall, this is a very modern-sounding Mariah. Even so, the best cuts here are once again those borrowing from the past; the disco smash I'm That Chick uses Michael Jackson's Off The Wall very well, the light and sunny I'll Be Loving You Long Time also draws from the heyday of Motown. The first single and Mariah's 18th US No.1, addictive and playful Touch My Body is apparently too simple, but again - try to sing it -- it's not that easy. Many songs display rather quickly-spoken verses, something that has been Mariah's specialty since the 1997 cooperation with Bone Thugs'n'Harmony on Butterfly album.
Other songs that should stick in your head immediately are the second single, the smooth-flowing Bye Bye, For The Record and Thanx For Nothin'. Autobiographical "Side Effects" (where she unloads on ex-hubby 10 years after the divorce!) and reggae-tinged "Cruise Control" grow on you with more listens and so it turns out that Jermaine Dupri's contributions are the weakest spots of the album.
Mariah Carey must be admired for how she rose from the ashes after "Glitter" movie (the soundtrack was not that bad) and uninspired "Charmbracelet" album. It remains to be seen how quickly (or slowly) E=MC2 will grow old... Maybe in the end we all will be suprised by it as another lasting work from the DIVA.
If you hesitate, give it a chance. Although you should not expect too much.
Unfortunately as the time passed I started hearing that this album would NOT be the anticipated soulful music that I'd hoped for but a replica of EMANCIPATION. I hate to compare the two albums but I have to in order to be honest about my feelings for E=MC2. From the 1st time I listened to EMANCIPATION, I loved all but 2 tracks and still to this day, enjoy listening to the album on a frequent basis but after listening to E=MC2 a few times, there are only 6 songs that I love and 4 that I think are just "ok".
This album reminds me of my feelings for her RAINBOW album - there are a few tracks that I like but overall I'm disappointed in it as a whole and skip over more than a few tracks. I feel like with EMANCIPATION, Mariah & the writers & producers worked really hard to present strong tracks and the result is an album that I love while this one seems to want to follow the same production path but with weaker lyrics and unmemorable tracks.
My favorite tracks are:
I'LL BE LOVIN U LONG TIME
CRUISE CONTROL
I'M THAT CHICK
THANKS FOR NOTHING - just wish JD wasn't "shouting out" throughout
I WISH U WELL
OOC - interesting arrangement, it's growing on me the more I listen to it
My "ok" tracks are:
MIGRATE - it's a catchy track but I really dislike T-Pain and his guest spot really doesn't add anything special
LUV STORY - I'd have liked this track more if JD wasn't screaming all over it
LAST KISS
BYE BYE - although I like the lyrics & sentiment behind the song, it just left me "cold" for lack of a better word. Mariah has written other tracks regarding the loss of a loved one that moved me to tears but this track didn't move me in any way
The only other two notable tracks are:
TOUCH MY BODY - I hate this song, truly it stays in my mind like an annoying radio jingle because it's being forced on us on all levels
FOR THE RECORD - the lyrics are really personal and once again, Mariah is letting us in on what marriage to Tommy Mottola was like but the song itself hasn't really resonated with me yet so I feel like it's TMI
As a fan of course I was excited just to get new music from Mariah, I added it to my collection because I want to have a complete Mariah catalog but I can't say that I'll ever get the same enjoyment out of listening to it say, 5 or even 1 year from now - it'll just be in my collection and I might listen to it from time to time.
I'm torn about recommending it to people so I'll just say that if u want to get it, proceed with caution & try to listen to a few clips first. I will continue to wait and hope that we will get a "Sweet Soul Odyssey" from Mariah some time in the future.
