子供向けに書かれた絵本です．
Mitchellは郵便配達員．毎日みんなにたくさんの手紙を配達するのに，自分には一通も手紙が来ません．ある日，Mitchellは風邪をひいて，仕事を休みました．すると．．．
心温まるお話です．小さなお子さんにはもちろん，仕事に疲れたあなたにもお勧め．
語彙レベルは500，総語数は300程度．SSSの難易度レベルで言うとレベル1．
手紙のエピソードと言えば，国語の教科書にも採用された「Frog and Toad Are Friends」(語彙レベル500，総語数1700，ISBN:0064440206)，こちらもお勧め！

アメリカの小学低学年向け。しかしながら、読ませる話。郵便配達犬ミッチェルは、手紙を届けるものの、自分には手紙がこない。しかし…。後半部分は、心の温かさを、ものすごく感じさせる感動的な展開。498語で話は終わるが、この語数でこの内容は、素晴らしいとしかいいようがない。最後は涙が出る。

Our mailman Gary is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He always provides treats for our dog Sadie... she loves him more than Santa. Anyway... Gary has a daughter who just got married and is thinking of starting a family. My 3 kids loved this little book years ago, its about a mailman (a dog) named Mitchell who feels sad because although he delivers mail all day he never receives any letters. Mitchell catches a nasty cold one night delivering a birthday present for Bobby Beaver during a nasty storm. When he is home recuperating Mitchell is inundated with well wishes from all the people on his route. It's a great little book... I purchased it as a gift for our mailman Gary to read one day to his grandchildren. I'm sure they will love it too. I plan on finding our old copy as well if I'm ever blessed with Grandkids to share it with them.

My daughter enjoyed listening to me read her this friendship story when she was three years old. Now, she's six years old, and she enjoys reading it to me! Mitchell the mailman is understandably frustrated when he never gets mail. Then, his loyalty to his job and a young Bobby Beaver causes him to get sick. Mitchell's customers miss him and send him get well cards. It's a sweet story that both boys and girls will enjoy.
